I am thinking about going Goofy for 2012. The only issues/concerns I have is that I have a hard time training in the winter because I have a toddler at home and he can't be out in the Ohio snow and ice in my running stroller. I have to squeeze my running in either before my hubby goes to work at 7am or after I get off of work at 10pm. I'm making it work now while training for a local half on the Galloway program because it only calls for 2 weekday runs 30 minutes each. I looked up the Goofy training plan that he has on the runDisney site and it looks like it's pretty similar. VERY low milage and only 2 mid-week runs 30-45 mins. I have always been a Higdon gal, but the low milage plans work so much better for my family. Anywho...did anyone use the Galloway plan last year and how well did it work??

Add Intensity to the two midweek runs and you will have no issue. Intensity would include intervals and hill work. Feel free to pull back on the length as you see fit.... ala Higdon. Do not feel compelled to make all back to back runs. They are not 100% necessary.... I do like his approach if you are compelled to do them.

Thanks so much Coach for the response. I do tend to do tempo, fartlek and other speedwork on my mid-week runs just to see how fast I can get. I modified my plans a little to include more back to back LRs because it makes me nervous that there aren't so many of them in the plan. I also did scale back the LR milage a bit 24 is my peak. My biggest concern was the fact that I only do one loooong long run in December? Seems like I won't be that prepaired...

I ran 2011 on a long run of 16 that occurred in early December. Other long runs were 14 and a series of half mary races. I recommend a training regime a little higher than my fall 2010. You will be fine with your longest run over the weekend of 12/17. If there is any issue on that weekend, you can always run that missed long run over Christmas Holiday. Feel free to discuss the peak end of the plan. If you feel the need, you can always modify. Now is better than in November.

Thanks! Since you are Perfectly Goofy, you have the best advice out there!! :thumbsup2
