I know it is subjective but...at $69/ person is the dessert party worth it?

From what it says there is no actual seating...so I'm thinking you just have to stand with your dessert and drinks? Is the viewing area really good? The only reason I'm hesitating is because we have to add an extra 30% with the Canadian exchange rate and you have to pay it all up front!

If it is the same area used for the Frozen party, the view is excellent. No seating, just high tables to stand around, but a great (and on the night we were there, uncrowded) location for the fireworks.

It's probably not worth it, but I booked it anyway as a surprise for our three boys! I'm paying adult prices for our two teens, so it's probably a terrible value! But I'm excited and I think they will be too. We'll get the Chewie steins which I think look hideous, but will be fun. And if this is similar to previous Star Wars dessert parties, the theming will be great and the desserts will be fun. The drinks will be really fun - better than just plain lemonade or water for the kids and I'd prefer some of the mixed drinks over sparkling wine at Illuminations. (Would love just a regular red wine, but I guess that's not very Star Wars.) Our kids love a special event and we've done both Illuminations (for $49pp) and Wishes dessert parties (for whatever the old price was - $29?) in the past. I'm guessing Star Wars will be their favorite. Also, I love the standing tables at Illuminations - less clutter and makes the space feel more open. So I'm fine with that aspect of it, too.

We did the dessert party for Star Wars weekends the last two years. The price with that included viewing area for parade with all we eat/drink ice cream, soda, water .... then we got a FP+ for one of the special Star Wars programs and we also got the dessert party ............. this includes a mug - so to me no, it's not worth it. That said we loved the dessert party.

Desserts were good, plenty of soda, water and specialty drinks, coffee, tea. There are high tops and a couple low W/C tables with table covers, lights and the food tables were all decorated very well. There are not enough for every party so you will either have to share with strangers or balance your stuff or sit on the floor. The view area is close and nice but not optimal. It should be better now that the hat is gone but there are better viewing areas.

If you decide to go you can check in early and if the same you will get wristband or something. Folks will get in line early so they can secure a table or spot where they want. We like the spots at the "back" aka closest to front gates. The farther back you are the better your view will be.

Here you can see how it was set up for SWW, the food etc.

I've never understood people paying for the DHS dessert parties, I just don't see the value in them. I can't understand paying that price for some drinks, cupcakes, and seeing fireworks that anyone else can see for free since they're up in the sky!

BUT that's for me and my family. There are other things we pay for that I'm sure some people would think are crazy. If you think it's something you and your family would enjoy, and the cost isn't too big of an issue, go ahead and give it a try.

I totally agree. We all do things others think are crazy and not worth it. While I love desserts and alcoholic beverages, how much of the two can you really consume in that short period of time? For my family it'd be over $300. I personally can't justify that for what we would consume. However if the money/value isn't much of an issue to you and you want to do it, I would.

It definitely doesn't seem like the Galactic Dessert Party offers as much as the SWW party or even the Frozen one. Since the fireworks viewing is actually better further away from where the party is held, it doesn't seem to be much of a benefit in terms of watching them, and the only "extra" is the Chewbacca stein, which they're selling elsewhere in the park. I was planning on booking it -- it was going to be a replacement for Club Villain, which I had booked but was subsequently canceled by Disney -- but it just doesn't seem like you get much for the money. Even for Disney.

I booked it, though may cancel. If there are characters on stage for the opening of the fireworks like the last 2 years for SWW, I'm keeping the reservation. If there are no characters, I'm cancelling because you can see the fireworks from so many good vantage points. The characters on stage, are best viewed close up and would prompt me to keep the reservation.

This. Exactly why I have it booked for both our trips, for now... if no characters, canceling both.

Thanks for the replies! I did book it as well, but may end up cancelling. We are not going until March, so I'll see how the reviews are shaping up in terms of characters, etc.

They always move it for rain too btw. Also, I always end up finding a viewing spot right next to the party...sorry guys. Unless you just absolutely love it for dessert, I would definitely not be happy not being able to sit down. Terrace at MK has nice sit down seating. We demand a rest for our feet! lol

For Frozen, I liked being right in front of the boat. or immediate left of the stage. I love those Frozen fireworks. Can't wait for new ones!!!
