"An eye for an eye." - The Bible (Matthew 5:38)
I think that 99% is high but I do realize that many other nations have different philosophies. I'm not sure if we really need to 'see' the atrocities to understand that they occur.I have no problem with them. I wish they would show more real pictures like this when stuff happens. too many people especially her in the US live in a sanitized, sugar coated, PC world and that is not how it really is in the world. Like I wish they would have kept showing the poor victims of The trade towers having to face that horrendous decision to throw themselves out of the windows or die a more horrible death. It is too easy to distance your self from reality now. Do you really think people would have felt so strongly about Vietnam if it was covered as wars are now? with no actual photos?
99% of the world does not live by our standards of justice and it is time for the masses to see this and wake up and remember this.

One part of this that troubles me is that other nations seemed to be OK with him for so long. He was always a nutcase but he was in power for over 40 years!
I don't celebrate his death. I am happy that he is out of power though.
"You have heard that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: but I say unto you resist not evil: if anyone should hit your right cheek, turn to him the other cheek also. And if any man sues you for your coat, let him have all your clothes. If anyone forces you to walk a mile, walk two miles with him." - Matthew 5:38 - 41

ITA.I might feel differently if "the people of Libya" had actually gotten rid of him.
But something tells me that what may end up there could be --in the long run--WORSE for the U.S. than he was.
I have a feeling that this whole thing was far more than just a simple uprising of the population.
I have seen the video. A couple of times actually and I did not feel one bit of sympathy or remorse for his death. He deserved a lot worse then what he got. He was a sadistic, evil, coward. Don't let his last minutes of begging fool you, he would of shot you in the face himself if you were standing in front of him.
Those who live by the sword, die by the sword.
Thank you for posting the entire quote, not just the convenient bit that the general public/media usually tosses about.
Not, then a call for vengance, but a call for pacifism.![]()

I am not sure who now is the Best Dressed Dictator...I mean, Col Mommar was such a stylish guy!
But I thought the bible verse "does nothing for you"? Or is that unless it can be made to suit your stance? I have read many interpretations of it that would indeed justify what happened to Gadhafi. My point in posting it was to counter the "weight" of your MLK quote. As in, one can pull quotes from important people to suit any of their needs.
My feeling on it? He probably would have been sentenced to death if he'd been caught anyway. They just skipped the middle man. I don't know that I personally would be able to mete out "frontier justice" like that, but I can understand the frenzy the people who found him were in. People who were oppressed by his tyrannical regime for so long.
