GAC on eBay again

This is the email I got when I reported this GAC sale to tips@disneyantipiracy.com a few minutes ago:

The seller is a scumbag but this is fraud not piracy. The seller is trying side step by not selling the GAC, he is selling a envelope. I have a number for the Disney Fraud Investigators. I will give them a call and post the results.

eBay contacted me regarding the email I sent last evening. They said there wasn't enough information for them to investigate. I gave them the Auction ID number and the seller ID. Seems like they earnestly are looking into the matter. ~~ Lisa

That is great to know. I worked last evening and was hoping to see the auction gone by this morning. Hopefully soon!

I know several WDW CMs have already reported it to Fraud, but I have not seen a number to contact them. I have reported it to the email on the Disney website also (which I did last time and know it was sent to Fraud by them).

I know it is not Piracy, but that is the only contact that ebay has on their website and is the address that ebay suggested as the contact. That was the 'definition' that ebay used to handle other GACs for sale.
It does fit into the 'piracy' definition that ebay uses - i.e. selling something using the company name and/or that has a company's logo and ID on it without their permission (even though what they are 'selling' is the envelope, they are using Disney's name and the image of the GAC to sell the envelope. I know they have stopped auctions before under that definition.

My experience with ebay in the past is that they don't care. All they want to do is make money. They will give you lip service but do very little when it comes to removing listings. They even make it difficult to report problems. If Disney or someone with clout reports a problem they will take action quickly. I left a message for my Disney fraud contact but it turns out that he is in the resort fraud group.
Well, hopefully he will send it to the right place.
The Disney piracy email that was posted is actually going to Disney, not to ebay. The gist of what I got was that the Disney piracy people will pass it on to the correct people if it's not in their 'jurisdiction'. But they do deal with copyright issues, which showing a picture of a GAC in an auction does include.

Well it is still there. It totally disgusts me that someone takes advantage of a system that is to make Di+sney Accessible to all. It is bad enough I feel guilty getting a GAC but when someone does this it is criminal. I hope no one falls for this scam.

I did not call it disney's intellectual property, but i called it "false travel something or other" saying that this travel "membership" was misrepresented. i thought they may be able to do more with this. also, i found a way to email them, and reported the seller as well...

I saw it and asked the lister a question before I came here and read about the "harassment" issue. I asked if this was the free card given out to people with handicapping conditions that is not transferable- his response (laughable, at best!) was:

"Well I am handicap but you would never know and I don't need a wheelchair. When the pass expires you just take it to guest relations and they write out a new one. I lent mine to a friend one day and he had no problems getting around with it, they don't check ID or anything. Only reason I am selling it is to pay off my medical bills that are piling up."

We have to get this thing pulled. It's disgusting.

I hope no one out there falls for this and ends up buying it before it is pulled off Ebay ( which will hopefully be soon!)

Yes, it is against ebay's rules because it could be seen as harassment.
Ebay moves slowly, but when this did happen before, they did move to delete the listing.
It can also be dangerous to contact an ebay seller with a complaint. When someone was selling GACs on ebay previously, there were some DIS Board posters who posted that they contacted the seller and got some nasty emails in response.

NOTE TO POSTERS: Please keep the discussion based on reporting this situation. When someone was selling GACs before on ebay, the discussion got into the 'character' and 'motivation' of the seller. Moderators/Webmasters felt that this was not appropriate since the seller did not have the opportunity to defend himself.

And he could defend her/himself how ????

The seller lives in Orlando. It would be pretty sweet if somone from Disney showed up at their house and ran their finger prints so they could never get in the parks again:thumbsup2

Being that even in Orlando Disney is just a private company and not a police force, I'd really like to see them try.

I'm certain that the laws broken by TWDC in that attempt would supersede this ebay auction.

:)

My contact within TWDC gave me a ring... the seller has been contacted and has voluntarily agree to take the auction down... it should be down later tonight.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING TO TRY AND SELL THIS! :sad2:

I checked on this on ebay and it say item was removed when you try and request they look into it, but I still see the listing??????

I am so thankful the item was removed. If the seller was truly disabled I hope he finds some other way to pay his bills. If he was just trying to make some quick money - shame on him!!

That card looks like it may have actually been issued at Give Kids the World, I believe, because I've never seen that option on any card in the theme parks.

I do not personally feel that anyone could have a defense for trying to sell a GAC, but when there were some prior threads about 'GAC sellers' a lot of things were said that were interpreted as possible libel and someone actually looked up and posted the seller's name, workplace and address on the thread. A decision was made to not allow further discussion about the individual seller on that thread or future threads.

I've got 2 old ones that were issued to my DD (one from last year and one from April of this year). They both have that option on the card.
There is something else about that card that is not quite right (which I won't mention because I don't want to give any potential future ebay sellers any tips.)

Thanks to everyone for the help in getting it pulled.

Sad, sad, and as SueMN said, thanks to everyone who had it pulled.

Laura - Mom of 12 year old autistic son who NEEDS the GAC :sunny: so he can enjoy his vacation to WDW

This all makes me want to cry! I have 2 developmentally disabled children. On our last trip, I was lectured by a cm about how the kids will just have to wait their turn, etc. All I asked was for an alternate waiting area, not to bypass the line. I know that the cm's are coming down hard on us because of these scum-bags!

We just got back from our first disney cruise. I asked about pre-boarding because the kids were melting down big time in the cruise terminal. We were told no because too many people were taking advantage. So I spent an hour in the terminal until boarding pass #11 was called, then another 30 minutes in line before we actually made it on the ship. The kids were a mess by then, and I was almost in tears! :sad2: Once again, a few rats ruined pre-boarding for those who really need it.

We had to wait in the regular lines at POOH and at GREAT MOVIE RIDE last week, and I know that CMs are looking at all of us with disabled children and with disabilities ourselves as potential frauds - because of the bad apples out there on ebay. Even with our wheelchair, our Little girl was eyed with suspicion. This is so sad!!
