Just wanted to say we had no problem with getting a GAC yesterday. We also had no problems using it along with ou touring plan.

I am here now and got my GAC renewed and everything wokred as well as last year. the CM did keep my 2 old GAC's and DS saw her rip them up. They really helped with my issues on the rides, The only problem was HM. i did skip the shrinking room but there weren't any CMs to guide you where to go next. i went by the wheelchair wait area and a CM was finally there. Then we were in a room with wall to wall people waiting to board the doombuggy.I started to panic until my DS calmed me down. I am taking some "me" time while my DS enjoys the pool. Then we are off to DTD.

I will admit we skipped the haunted mansion. The CM who helped us with our GAC loved that we brought the old one with us . He as well ripped up the old one.

My brother is down there now with my nephew who is disabled. They didn't know about the GAC. Where do they go to get one and is the one they get good for all parks or do they need a new one at each park?

Any guest services window. We get ours at the Magic kingdom. They are good for all parks. They will also ask additional questions to see if they have a GAC that will help.

Post 6 of that thread will answer all your questions bout GACs (plus a bunch you didn't know you had).

Yeah, the HM seems to be where they have the most trouble dealing with disabilities that involve things other than using a wheelchair.

Our past couple of trips they brought us in the back and we were able to get right on a buggy. But I've heard a couple if people say they aren't doing that anymore. Ds wouldn't do well waiting in a crowded room. Linda

I seem to be the only here that had no trouble at the HM. I did go to the shrinking room, a cm first guided me to a spot to stand in, then they showed me a second spot to wait afterward where another cm met me in about a minute and then I was put on a buggy. I could see if the cm there was helping another previous party to load you may need to wait for him/her to be free, and if the guest needs a lot of assistance/moves very slow it may take a little while. As they say here though, the GAC is not meant to shorten wait times.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you but I wanted to say...Thanks for the info!

I think that misses the core of the concern. I think people understand waiting--ok at least I thought people understood waiting until a group of 9 threw a tantrum at TSM because the "handicapped line" was supposed to be "faster" while we were there--but at HM we found directions a little unclear. The CM basically say, "Go over there". The thing is, there's a whole lot of "there" over "there". It means that instead of waiting a long "time", you end up waiting in uncertainty....which may be well and good unless your brain is structured in a way that makes you extremely uncomfortable with uncertainty.

I didn't find it confusing since the area is pretty small, but if folks feel unsure of where to stand I suppose they can put a large sign that says Wait Here For Assistance.

when was your last trip there? I know I have had this problem a while now. They no longer take you down the back, you enter the dark holding room along with everyone else now.

did you have a wheelchair? I don't and without one they tell me constantly that I cannot go that way. I have to skip the stretching room, so when I go outside and then back inside again (ending up where you did at the second spot), I am told to "merge" in with all the other guests. So yep, I have a major problem over there. One CM even told me if I did that it would be "faster" I tried telling her that I wasn't there for "a shorter wait" but because I cannot see in there. She persisted on arguing with me. She finally saw I wasn't "merging" and 2 rooms have come out and gotten on, she realized I wasn't joking. I wasn't there for a "shorter wait" but really could not go that way. She was very snippy and allowed me to follow her. I think having to deal with issues like this 9 out of 10 times at this attraction is totally unacceptable. Had I been in a wheelchair, I would have had no problems. :sad2:

I am going to Disney this coming Sunday for a week. I will be alone for Sunday -Wed at the parks. My DH doesn't do parks, he refuses to get a ECV or wheelchair and he cannot walk to do parks anymore. I will skip the parks on my first day up there, but M/T & W I will be there during the daylight hours alone, so I will see what happens when I go to the HM this time. Th-Sat I will have someone coming with me, things are a little different then (I also get to go at night and watch the fireworks too then :cool1:) otherwise, I am in the room before nightfall :sad1: I will post back on a separate thread on how the HM was this coming trip.

i am nterested in hearing about your experiences. I hope you have a wonderful trip.:grouphug:
