DH had very unexpected bypass surgery about a month ago. We are planning to go in August and I am concerned as to whether waiting in the heat will be good for him.

At this point I am not sure he is going to need it but I am wondering if 1) he could get a GAC and 2) what we would need if he did.

If you haven't already checked it out, look in the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is a section in there with all the basics about GACs.

The main things you need to think about are what would his needs be and what might be done to meet them.

My father had a bypass in January 1997 and six weeks later in February we went to WDW and he didn't have any problems walking around or doing any of the rides he wanted to go on.

Lots of the 'thrill' rides at WDW have warning signs about 'not for people with back, neck, heart, conditions, etc...' so you'd want to check with his physiscain to see if her would fall under the heart category, I'd think.

The GAC could be for waiting in a shaded area, if available? And always use Fastpass where available!
