We have used a GAC for my daughter before and it lets us use the fast pass lines. But if they don't have fast pass open for MVMCP or night EMH is there still a CM there to let people with GACs go thru the fast pass line? We will be arriving late afternoon and woud like to use the EMH for a while but I understand the lines can be quite long. If we can't use the GAC we may not go. Same thing applies to MVMCP. Do you take your autistic children to these?

if you are talking about Sept - I have never waited long for anything with EMH in Sept.

the fass pass lines are generally closed. Although sometimes there was a wheelchair in one (the ones that don't require separate entrances once you are in the attraction). = Bluzz lightsaber for one.

with the new way Disney is going this - you might also have to get a fass pass.

Never waited in a line at all for MVMCP except for the wheelchair car for Buzz. It's great because they only sell so many tickets the park is almost empty.

We're GAC users and have enjoyed many an EMH and several of the events.

There has only been ONE occasion where the GAC was used in all that time. Torrential Downpour and everyone in Tommorrowland was rushing Buzz Lightyear. :teeth:

There are still CMs at the entrance to the attractions, whether the fast pass is open or not.

Thanks guys. So Poohnatic what you are saying, is that the GAC will probably not be needed at EMH or MVMCP. but that can be used if there is a long wait at an attaction. Is this correct? Thanks, I've just heard that the night EMHs can be really busy at Christmastime.

We are taking our son who has autism to the MNSSHP and he is just thrilled to be going as a pirate. He also loves all the rides as he loves to get the sensory into high gear. It seems that when he has his sensory needs finally met at Disney, he picks up on language better.

Other kids with autism hate the rides, each child is different that is on the spectrum.

Always get the GAC. If you do have a need, it'll be handy. In our case, I usually wear a lanyard with our passes and the GAC in a pouch. Quite a few CMs notice the red and white corners BEHIND our passes and ask what our need is before it's out of the pouch.

The MVMCP I did last year was right before the crowds (either the 17th or 19th) descended on WDW, so we didn't even need it that night. We've done MNSSHP three times now, and even on Halloween '04, we didn't need it. It was pouring at an early one last year and I think all the attendees were in Tomorrowland ;) , hence the crowds at Buzz.

We couldn't go to the parks during those peak weeks, so I don't know exactly how crowded they get. However, I've been during the summer many times and found the lines to be moving and manageable with my son's needs. We're able to get by if there's not a lot of standing in one place with crowds all around him. If the line is moving constantly or there's space to move around, he's okay.

Tacomaranch, ain't it the truth about Autism? My son has Asperger's and it's totally different from Kanner's. We end up explaining a lot. My nickel speech is that he looks like a 10 year old, but emotionally, he's 3. He's fine with everything in the parks but Star Tours and Mission Space. He's the biggest Star Wars nut you'd ever meet, but the motion of the ride freaks him out.

If you go when the park is not extremely crowded, you can ask (at the podium) for a "test flight" at Star Tours. As long as all six simulators are not in use they will take you to a vacant ride vehicle and run the entire show with all the music and lighting but no motion at all.

I don't know how he would react to the new "green" side of MS; they still have the directional motion even though there is no spinning.

Cheshire,

Thanks for the info on Star Tours. The kid will spend HOURS in Tatooine Traders! That said, we went on the Wild Arctic ride at Sea World last month and he loved it. We explained that it is essentially the same ride. I'm hoping when we go next time, he'll remember and actually get on!

How has the feedback been about MS with no spinning? I rode during CM previews and then when it opened, noticed that it was much tamer than my first time on.

My dd with Sensory Integration Dysfunction (8 yo) could not stand Mission Space (the tame version). DH was nearly panicked mid-ride, trying to get her to breathe. I don't know that she will EVER be able to handle much stimulation -- she is not the least bit better, even with all the "help" she has been given at school and in OT since age 1. I see ZERO improvement. For her, MS is definitely a no-go...along with Test Track, and most other rides. She will, however, do Goofy's Barnstormer ONCE per day. Same with Spaceship Earth (although she really has a tough time when tilting backward toward the end of the ride.
