FYI: You will be charged for not cancelling or no-show

Whenever I cancel a dining reservation, I always get an e-mail stating that the reservation has been cancelled. I always save those cancellation e-mails until my next billing statement to make sure I wasn't accidentally charged as a no-show. Might be a good way, in the future, to make sure the reservation was cancelled so they're is no miscommunication amongst family members?
Most have a “day prior” policy. There is no xx-hour policy anywhere.

Occasionally, you might accidentally get charged a no show fee, even when you do show up and eat. Check your credit cards carefully.

This happened to us last trip. We just called and said we had eaten there and had the credit card statement to prove it, on the same day. They reversed the charge.

We have been charge the no-show fee before. If you forget about a reservation after the cancellation window, you can call to reschedule for a future day. Then you can call later or go online and cancel that one with no penalty.

I just sort of by pass this entire operation. I consult my girls my ADR's and I have never in 4 trips made 2 ADR's for the same time. I tell them what they pick is what they get (no changing). As to charging you if you show up missing a person the daughter of a friend of mine goes frequently and the only why she can get some ADR's is to reserve 2 instead on one. Only once was she questioned and she teared up (theater major) and told the server "So you can get the cheating sob here?" She told me they could not seat her fast enough.
