Hey all I am unfortunately riding this storm out at Beach Club. I was in Epcot till closing and was surprised with all the prep work disney has done. 90% of the Food and Wine booths were taken backstage and almost all the loose signs that were on the booths that were left on-stage were taken down. There were temporary signage for the booths that were still open for guests to see. In general the parks were running on skeleton crew in most attractions as far as I could tell. All the resort CMs are upbeat and I can gladly say with smiles on their faces. this will be a very interesting 48 hours.
I'll keep posting updates on what I notice over the next few days.
It looked like that at pretty much every resort.
11:30pm and it's very quiet in St Cloud.
We've had some rain and a gust or two, but that's it.
Disney could open for the afternoon. They wouldn't open in the morning most likely.Good.
If the thing completely misses, the parks stay closed right?
I don't believe so because it's RFID. The bands and doors should be the same I would think.Dumb question, I'm already reading about severe power outages if there's a power outage at Walt Disney World do the room doors stop working because magic bands are unable to connect to ....Disney's mother ship or whatever?
Thanks for the update. Stay safe!!11:30pm and it's very quiet in St Cloud.

Thank you for the update.. Stay safe everyone!!!!!2am here, I'm not far from kevins area but directly south of property. We're still in the same county, i'm just on the western edge of it (with southern half of disney property). Same as he reports, winds are a little stronger but less than a normal thunderstorm right now. tv is reporting some bands of higher wind with the rain that's passing through time to time but it's just quick gusts like any storm has. it's mostly the outer bands of rain that have hit here so far.. the builk of the storm is getting closer though so it'll pick up soon.
Hard stuff is expected in about 4 hours and it's slowly building up winds. so far it's been the outer bands so I suspect we'll start to see some of the 55ish mph winds on the edge of the storm shortly. (35ish right now, up from about 20 a couple hours ago).
I shoudl have waited for the 2am release of the updated forecast track.. The storm is actually more east again and they are now saying the hardest stuff around 9am but the hard stuff is now around 55mph max instead of up to 120mph so it just got a dramatically different forecast.. again everyone warning that it's still early for the storm to decide to head more west and then the old numbers kick back in and if it goes enough even more.. It's also finally getting some times that around mid afternoon we're back to about what it is right now (which I would find a windy storm like many we've all seen when at disney). do it's looking like dinner timeish we're back to normal and the cleanup / recovery starts..
Still a formidable forecast but not too bad. For those that aren't from a hurricane/tropical storm, that's still enough to do some damage, break/knock over weaker trees, throw loose things around and generally emergency crews stop operating when winds are somewhere in the 40s to 50s so it's right at the numbers that they will not be out and about helping folks.
