FYI! Ticket Price Increase Rumor

"If you wait to purchase a 10 day pass you will get 4 extra water park days. The cost for a water park visit is $41.54. 4 x 41.54=$166.16.

Good thought. I will have to look closer at the numbers. Thanks!

I never buy the tickets with the waterpark options because we never go to the waterparks. We can (but don't) do that at home if we wanted to.

Guess that goes to show how desperate US is to compete in a market filled with alternatives.

Once the Harry Potter attractions are added I'm sure US prices will jump considerably. It takes money to make money. And still US can only offer half as many parks bundled with their APs.

I agree. Everyone keeps saying "Universal" is so much cheaper. Universal does NOT want to be cheaper LOL! And with Harry they will try to "recoup" Their finanical statements over the past few years have not been what they want. They are not spending money on HP to give away tickets LOL! Universals LIST price is close to Disney's and if they can get you into ride the HP rides without discounting they will..... The "Deep" discounts they offer now were not always the norm.

Well, i've been trying to renew my AP's for the lasr 4 hours. The AP site "still" will not let me log on under my name or my DH. Never found the link on the DVC site. Finally called MS, waited forever. I was told that I could renew through them. GREAT. Until I gave her my renewal date. NO! NO! NO! I can not renew b/c it's too early. My pass expires 9/9/07. I told her I knew of a lot of people who were able to do this on-line and she checked with her supervisor. NO again. Then stated that those renewals may not go through!!! I certainly hope this is not true. I think I'm jsut going to give up. Good luck everybody.

I renewed last year when this happened in August and didn't use that A/P voucher until April, 2007. My A/P expires 4/28/08 and I just bought the renewal to get it through 4/28/09 yesterday.

Go to the DVC member site and start with the list of benefits. Click through from there to the DVC A/P discount which takes you to the WDW ticket page and will give you the DVC discount when you type in your name and your current A/P ticket number. It worked yesterday, my A/P renewal voucher should behere by 8/17 according to my receipt.

OK, you made me bite the bullet. I'm heading down anyway for New Years. And since they haven't raised the AP in 2 years, I'm sure they will increase it now. Thanks for everyone's information!

Well I went to the DVC website and bought my new AP. Did not do renewal as it would "waste" 2 months.

Not sure why I gave in to the "pressure" LOL!

not sure why it isn't working for you. try dumping your cookies and temp files. I did have a hard time logging into the AP website this morning because alot of folks were trying to renew and purchase so that is probably jamming the site. Once I got in, I clicked the renew button and it processed it with no problem. It then takes you to the spot where you have to log into your official disney account (pretty much whatever you use to log into DVC website or disney shopping....it's your account that they have history of you on). Then you get the store information to purchase. It gave some strange error the first time, then I logged off and did a restart on my PC and tried again and had no problem. It took my credit card just fine and gave me the renewal certificate to exchange. MS is incorrect, because I have renewed before 30 days several times in person and it was not a problem. Have you tried renewing through the passholder phone number. Once they pull up your account through your AP ID, it will show that you are a DVC member and they should process it under that renewal price. Good luck. (BTW: my AP doesn't expire until Oct. 20, and I have a receipt in hand showing that I purchased the renewal ticket.)

I don't do one day passes at USF/IOA, we only do APs. And we got them a few years back for the price I stated: $100 and $85 for the somewhat limited one. And just a month ago they offered them for $165 for 2 years. I have no problem going to those parks. If Disney wants to charge $350+ for an AP and they can find people willing to pay it, more power to them and those willing! I am just not willing to pay that kind of money. Too frugal (or cheap!:thumbsup2 ) I guess :confused3 .

And you think Universal will keep selling them that cheap if they don't have too?

I think Universal APs will go up too.. IF Harry Potter is a success. (No guarantees on that, but if it is.......then they will basically have a few years where they can "print" money, much like Disney does now. Harry is a blockbuster and they will milk it for all it's worth, just like Disney would have.)

whether to purchase our MYW tickets for our Christmas ticket from undercover tourist tomorrow on-line. I was going back and forth on the annual passes, because I could go another 10 months without purchasing them. Well, I gave in and took the 6% discount by avoiding the increase. Thinking about doing the same with the MYW tickets. Go Vols!

I am sure they will. But right now they are a lot cheaper than WDW. That is all I care about.

I guess I am just the type of person that does not just accept that something is expensive and pay it. I evaluate it. If it is not worth the money, I don't buy it. Plain and simple. Carry on......popcorn::

I was chatting in email with a friend of mine today and he mentioned getting Universal APs and said "They had the 'buy a year get a year free' deal again so we went ahead and bit again."

Now, I do not know if this was a limited time deal, something just for Florida residents or what. Has anyone heard of this "buy a year get a year free" deal? If not, and anyone is interested, I can certainly ask him about it.

They're still offering that deal. Just go to universalflorida.com and look under annual passes.

But judging by the fine print, this is clearly a pre-Harry Potter move. The disclaimers clearly state that vouchers not activated by September 30, 2007 will automatically start on that date and thus the two year period will expire no later than September 30, 2009.

Anyone care to guess when the HP stuff is supposed to start opening??? ;)

Given the fact that IoA is losing at least two very substantial attractions (Dueling Dragons and the Sinbad stage show) for the next 2 years as they are rolled into HP, they almost have to slash prices. IoA is looking very MGM-ish at present with only two real E-Ticket attractions (Hulk and Spiderman) and Jurassic Park a distant third.

BTTF at US closed this past spring, too, and there won't be a replacement ready until next summer.

I'm interested! You can PM me if that's better yhan hijacking this thread.

I've got a December trip with extended family - I was going to buy APs for 3, but for the same price I can buy 6 day MYW tickets and tickets for Universal. And we'll continue to do US as long as it's a better deal.

Disney's ticket increases are getting out of control, IMO.

If you are a Costco member, check their website. It comes out to $165 for a 2 year AP, but same restrictions as listed by tjkraz.

WOW!! How can that be???

Because they need the bodies? As was pointed out they have LOTS of "headline" attractions out of service for as long as two years. (That does hurt attendance, heck folks cancelled Disney visits over the rebabs of Pirates and HM)

They "hope" you will spend money buying food and "presents" to make up the shortfall, but "some income" is better then none.
It's the same model as those $49 airfares. Airlines are losing money, but they figure it's better then nothing.

Is that price for Aps at Universal or Disney???
