I was on the May Repo cruise. I just received my cell phone bill that included roaming charges from Mexico. I was surprised that my charges were less than $1.00 per minute. I live in San Diego so it wasn't too far away. It sure beats the $7.00 per minute that the ship charges for calls.

I have Verizon and asked them to add Mexico roaming before I left for the cruise.

Ah, and that is the key - ask your provider to add the International option(s) BEFORE you leave.

I was on a Western Caribbean in March, and would have loved to have been able to call home from Mexico. Live and learn. ;)

So, did your phone work in Curacao????

Hi

We were also on the May repo cruise.. We have Cingular .. I called cingular before we left and had them put international calling..

We were able to use the phone when we passed closed to Cuba, Curacao, Panama Canal, Alcalpulco, Mazaltan, Cabo San lucas, there were some days at sea that I had full bars.. I used the phone in Alcapulco for more than 45 minutes. and it was less than .60 minute. I really expected my phone bill to be outrageous and it wasn't.

This is good news - but news I will not be sharing with the teeange DD ;) She does not need to know that she can yack (at 60 cents to a dollar a minute) with her friends back home.
