BTW, I wouldn't brag about my kid being on the My Magic + team considering how many glitches have been going on in that system.

Not horribly illegal, just morally wrong. And I did forward this to him, so he'll be passing it along. They are very much aware, this just cements it.
Fantastic response.
Don't know why I'm amazed that someone would call others 'moral judgement' into play for taking part in all options available to them on VACATION.
Disney is fully aware this is going and that is fine. It will end when it is suppose to. As to doing it now, really no foul.
We did not bring old tickets or KTTW back this trip, that is way more hassle than it is worth but we did use our Magicband to enter the park and we attempted to use our hard copy AP and KTTW and it was denied.
We were issued a fastpass ticket that said: this ticket media was not used for park entry, this pass is not valid.
So they know, they already have these passes printed to generate and they are testing at times, so you might get one and be denied. If they were not going to stop it, these tickets would not have been printed.
So enjoy for now.
~Yes, it's a loophole. But, I'm sure Disney can handle this when they're ready. Personally, I hope as many people get to enjoy this perk while it lasts. I *love* Magic Bands and FP+ but I also acknowledge how this transition may have negative impact on other vacationers.
~I imagine this tiny loophole is the least of Disney's concerns. So, there's no need to make this appear bigger than what it is.![]()
I actually tried using my card at ToT yesterday and it would not give me a FP. Twice when trying to change times on FP+ times, I either lost it completely it or it changed only on person even though all members were selected
I am amazed how many people are misinterpreting this letter. I got the same one.
It says you are invited to the test, and says all OTHER guests can use legacy fastpass. Those involved in testing MB/FP+ are clearly not included in in the OTHER category. OTHER means those choosing not to or ineligible to participate in, testing.
NOWHERE in Disney officially published communications is their anything saying the same guest may use both FP+ and FP-. Those communications have consistently indicated it is one or the other. I realize that what is going on at the parks, with knowledge of and even encouragement from, CMs is not that policy. But, everything written from Disney Parks management has said you can use one or the other.
Don't get me wrong, I don't find it morally wrong to double dip. I am going in about 12 days, and sincerely hope I get to double dip. I signed up for FP+, but my wife is against us being in the test if it will take away our ability to pull regular fastpasses, so taking that ability away would be disastrous for me. I don't even know if we could opt out of the test after scheduling fastpasses?
During this testing phase, you are going to get three things:
A) Magic Bands
B) RFID-Enabled Annual Passes
and
C) RFID-Enabled Room Keys
We just came back from a 12 day trip, and all 3 forms of media worked.
But when we tried that, we got the Fastpass that said "this ticket media was not used to enter the park"
And therefore we did not get a Fastpass that was valid to use.
Mine and Steve's girl's question is, if these denial notices have always been given before Fastpass+, then how is everyone getting more than 3.
You only have one form of valid park admission on that day.
So I just want something clarified because I've seen conflicting info- morality aside hahaI would love to double dip for our trip in early november. However we booked a package, room and tickets. Does this mean I will not be able to use the KTTW card because it isn't room only, or should I be able to use it to pull FP-

~Awww, this is too bad, but I disagree with you 1000%. I define this as a loophole. Thanks! It's not a loophole. It's on purpose. It can't not be.
To me it's very simple. If Disney didn't want you to double dip they would not allow if. There's nothing in place to keep anyone from doing it. Not a single sign posted. So to me it's a non-issue. I think it's very odd that some have decided they know what Disney secretly doesn't want us to do but hasn't actually restricted.
I don't know why the FPs printed like that, but I have gotten that message at Disneyland before when there's something halfway wrong with my ap. I would use it for admission, which used the barcode, then the machines use the strip. The strip was messed up so it didn't recognize it. Wasn't because I wasn't allowed to use the ap for FPs, just that there was something wrong with the strip.
DH's paper ap is having the same issue whenever the strip needs to be used.
It's not a loophole. It's on purpose. It can't not be.
Did you try the ride you thought was changed just for one? I changed a FP + and at the end it looked like it was just for me, but it was good for everyone. Actually I didn't ride but it was good for DH and DS. Even though it didn't say it would work for them.
I didn't get a letter.. But I did read through the info linked to while doing my MBs and + stuff. And it said I'd have access to both.
We got no RFID APs because our APs are magically "on" our MBs. The CM at GR at AK was mystified when he went to change over our APs (after a most unpleasant cm experience as we approached the turnstiles, already late for Tusker, with me starving and shaking from hunger bc I hadn't yet fully refueled myself after the 10miler the night before).
Our RFID KTTWs don't have tickets on them. And they worked beautifully. As did KTTWs from feb I brought out of curiosity. Only used one, when we were still using paper APs to pull FPs, after we realized DH's paper AP wasn't working because of the magnetic strip.
Today I had FP- for TSMM starting at 4:15 and + starting at 5. As we got to the spot where they take the FPs, at 5:14, my son ALSO scanned his mb. Augh! I went back to the cm, explained what happened, and he immediately gave me a "get in anytime by X date" card to give us the FP back.
And then it was all moot because at 5:35ish we had a full on ride stop with ride evacuation. Left the ride around 5:45 with the park closing at 6. Sigh. And then they gave us each those cards on our way out.
Well, after discussing this with my 2nd cousin once removed (on my mother's side) who is a My Magic+ Project Manager I can assure you your son will be getting a little extra training on the moral ramifications of cross coordinating new equipment deployment and usage statistics, transition demographics from legacy to pre-deployed information systems, and Sartean algorithms used in the compilation of entertainment existentialist data networks.
As other posters have correctly pointed out, usage of both systems by FP+ testers is by design and necessary. This is intuitive, of course, because how else can you ask someone which system they liked better if you are at the same time telling them not to use one of them?
Edited to Add: The first paragraph of this reply is entirely farcical and included for satirical value only. That is satirical ... and not Serte-irical ... a little philosophy humor for ya.
Edited Again to Add: An example of something that is actually morally wrong that can be done at WDW is the nap I took in the companion restroom at Epcot my 2nd day there. I really wilt under that heat and those changing tables will hold a lot more than they say.

~We when used FP+/Magic Bands it was explained to us that we can fully exercise use of both the fastpasses from Magic Bands and the KTTW that were issued to us for *this* trip -- not including old KTTW cards from previous trips that allow for additional FP's. That's a loophole.
~With that said, we didn't find it necessary to double dip! Fooling around with the old FP would have been too time consuming for us, we loved the freedom and flexibility FP+ gave us. I hope I don't ever have to be a "runner" chasing down FP's again! I *LOVE* Magic Bands and FP+!![]()
You need to get RFID APs because the physical AP is required for all the normal AP privileges so when you next get an opportunity you'll need to get the new card for the AP.
