How odd, I was just coming here to ask a question about critical updates from Microsoft.

My last one about 6 months ago failed miserably and I ended up having to do a system restore........I haven't been brave enough to try downloading any of the updates since then.

Soooooooo this leaves me with 44 updates and service packs that I really SHOULD get to work on.

But I'm not going to do 44 all at once...so how do I know which ones are the most important? Some of them seem like repeats and repeats OF repeats.

Any clues where I should begin with all of this?

Just caught me heading to bed after I posted a planning question on Theme Parks. :)

You should do the criticals and service packs. You should (operative word is 'should', Patti) be able to click on that link (the top one) and do just those. They should install in the sequence thay have to. If you have not done any in that amount of time (first, I am amazed your PC is running) there will be some that have to run and then reboot before running more. But they should do that sequencing automatically for you. And if you have not done any for that long, go to bed now and do it tomorrow, unless you are wide awake, LOL, it will take a long time, lots of updates there.

The other two sections, Windows XP (if that is what you have) and the drivers, go through those and read what they are and jus t do the ones you think you might need for you particular configuration.

If you get stuck, come back, somebody will help.

*nervous gulp* Gonna head to bed and deal with it in the morning I think! LOL

Thanks Dan. If ya don't see me tomorrow you'll know my computer croaked! ;)

Is anyone else having trouble with the update? I go to the website and click on scan my computer. It scans until it reaches 66% and then stops. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Updated this yesterday afternoon. Also got another pop up from McAffee that it detected and cleaned that Sasser virus! :earseek: I think that latest patch is to help stop the spread of this.

There was another update for McAffee available this morning as well. Definitely need to keep up with this stuff! ::yes::
