I originally saw this on another website so I checked the Rumors Board.

The character breakfast at Artist Point will end on June 1. :(

Apparently AP won't be serving breakfast at all anymore. Here's an excerpt from an email I rec'd from the PS Planning Guidesite:

Just got word that as of June 1, 2001, the Winnie the Pooh Character
Breakfast at Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge will be discontinued.
Artist Point will be serving dinner only.
For those wanting a Pooh character meal, you can still go to the Crystal
Palace in the Magic Kingdom or attend the Old Key West breakfast on
Sundays, Mondays or Wednesdays.

This seems to reflect the continuing erosion of the value of a Disney vacation. As a recent WLV owner, I have recently learned that the boat service has been combined with Fort Wilderness and the Artist Point breakfast is being discontinued.

I better hurry up and get in my first vacation at WLV before they start draining the pools, too.

We actually are going to combine Vero Beach with a Universal Studios vacation next Spring. I was floored by the value at IOA and want to take a look. While I expect Universal is experiencing many of the same financial pressures as Disney, I am looking forward to staying on-site and making the comparison.

FWIW, I have to mention in the wake of this cost cutting that I recently interviewed for a job with Disney (didn't take) in California and execs (VP and above) still get a new company car (a Volvo) every two years. Just gets one to thinking about where the cuts have been focused.

We had the AP breakfast last Saturday, and it was kind of a dud. The restaurant is all wrong for a character breakfast. It's spread out and has lots of windows, which is just what you want for a fine dining experience. But it didn't seem to work for a character meal. A more enclosed restaurant like Olivia's actually has a better Pooh experience (but not a better dinner!).

The food was pretty mediocre, service was not good, and the characters didn't stop by much. We did four character meals, and this was everyone's least favorite.

Never did Pooh but years ago it was Pocahontas and it was great! My BIL has it on tape. John Smith sat with us & his ad libs were hysterical. It's one of our best memories. We were having too much fun with the characters that who cared if the food was ho hum.

My son will be very dissapointed. We ate there during our stay a week and a half ago and this became my son's favorite breakfast. He wanted to go back there every day. I thought the food was good. I enjoyed the breakfast breads with the honey butter. The rest of the food was tasty as well. I didn't care that much for the cinammon pancakes, but everything else was quite good. The character interaction was great during our visit. Tigger took my two children up on the cushioned bench by our table and was bouncing with them until he got in trouble and had to take a time out. Our family will really miss this breakfast.

I understand the boat situation at WL to be temorary. Contractor did not build new dock at MK to specification and the small boats cannot be used until this is corrected.:o

We thought the Pooh's breakfast was awful when we did it. The atmoshere isn't right, Chip n. Dale is a better fit, and the food STUNK ! Not to mention the price. We all thought it was the worst character breakfast we ever had.

Teen DD and I had breakfast with Pooh on our last trip in Feb. and enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, and the characters were terrrific. This is truly a shame, but at least we still have Whispering Canyon....
