FYI: More Cuts Coming

Do tell? Dont be keeping dole whip secrets. Where else can I get them?
WDW, DL, Aulani, Dole plant in Hawaii, and some smaller regional parks that I don't know the names of. Even some frozen yogurt chains sell a version of it.

I think it says something that someone on a Disney board would actually entertain the idea that eliminating half of the Chip/Dale duo was possible.

I've actually seen only one or the other before. We had to really think about which one it was, because we couldn't compare their noses. So, they have appeared without each other in the past.

That would ruin the fun for me. What I love most about Chip and Dale is the way they interact.

A bunch of ice cream/yogurt places near me (Toronto) sell it. They call it "Dole Whip" and have the Dole logo, so I can only assume that it is the real thing (I don't actually like it, so I've not tried a taste test).

Menchie's yogurt shops have Dole Whip ~ the one on 192 in the Target shopping center has it.

And if you decide to go to Hawaii, the Dole Plantation on Oahu serves Dole Whip.

Our local seasonal ice cream shop sells Dole brand Dole Whip - I eat it all the time - and yet I still find myself waiting in line for it when I'm in Disney!

That may be exactly why US chose Menchie's. Both the Shrek and Simpson's pre-ride areas (among others) are full of thinly veiled jabs at Disney.

That has been one of the options for years, and I have seen it numerous times.
When discussing the MK Welcome show the following info has been included in many of my posts for the last 5 years, or so…

MK still offers an actual Rope Drop SHOW along with an inside-the-gates holding area.
MK Gates open approx. 20-30 minutes "early."
But, the Rope Drop show starts about 8:45AM.

MK's Rope Drop Ceremony is called "Magic Kingdom Welcome"

The ceremony lasts 6-7 minutes, or so, and starts about 15 minutes before the scheduled MK opening time.

There is also a "mini" version (far less "hoopla") that lasts about 2-3 minutes.
There is also an "AUDIO ONLY" version (no characters at all) that lasts under minute.
That one starts about 2-3 minutes before the top of the hour.
Which one you will see can be tough to guess.
----------------------------------

The situation is that nobody knows in advance which version will be used on a given morning.
I was there for rope drop on Tuesday and I had the Audio Only version, no characters at all.

Chip has the dark brown (chocolate chip) nose - Dale's isn't brown. That was the clue that was given to me by CMs.

Rumor has it that TTSR at MK is working on a new, revolutionary restaurant concept they hope will eventually catch on throughout all Disney park dining locations and attractions worldwide over the next 10 years. Not only does this show yet another example in a growing trend of cost-cutting measures around the parks, but seems to confirm an overall change in general park staffing strategies. Teaming together with world-reknown chef Poppie, they are expected to roll out this new trial restaurant format in the fall of 2016.

Guest of Tony's will now be encouraged to "Come on in, and make your own pizza pie!", as guests will now be free to make their own pizza from scratch at their tables. According to popular Disney blogger GeorgeJustStandzha, "They give you the dough, the sauce, the cheese...you pound it, slap it, you flip it up into the air...you put your toppings on and you slide it into the oven... all by yourself! (After you've scanned your new LE Tony's MagicBand at the oven, of course.) Sounds good, huh?" The eventual willingness of patrons to want to "make their own pie" remains to be seen, as initial park surveys have so far revealed skepticism toward this new change. However, Bob Chapek, Chairmen of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, was recently quoted as saying, "I'm really excited about this. When they first came to me with this idea, I literally jumped off the couch. Wow! Who wouldn't want to make their own pizza pie? If this concept can be proven, this could completely revolutionalize the Disney park experience as we know it."

:) j/k. Sorry. Couldn't help myself. :)

Yet, if you want Chip and Dale to appear at an event, you must have both and you have to pay for two characters....

I've been going for 30 years, and I find the parks (both coasts) to be better now than when I was a kid. I've loved them all along, but there's WAY more to do now than there used to be. I may be the lone voice of optimism, but I think the parks are actually going uphill. I can't wait for all of the new stuff, either!
