FYI Groupon email- Weekly Cinema closed

Ok....let me get this straight here. If I have the Fandango coupon codes, I should be able to purchase the Tangled tickets with those codes? I would try it right now but the movie times aren't even available yet on the website.

Someone please clear this up for me. If true, I feel bad about essentially getting FREE movie tickets! :scared1:
Nope. Those codes were inactivated by weeklycinema. If you try to use them they will come up as EXPIRED. If you have already used the codes to purchase tickets and have a confirmation email and ticket voucher from fandango then you should be okay, according to the answer that I got from fandango.

No, the codes will say "expired" and not work. You're better off emailing the company you bought the deal from and having them issue you a refund!

I purchased two vouchers through Tippr. I contacted customer support to see what they would do in terms of a refund. I received this notice this morning:
We sincerely apologize for how the Weekly Cinema deal turned out, we strive to work only with reputable businesses. In this case it was a surprise to Tippr (and the many other deal sites that ran promotions with them) when they announced they were ceasing business operations. We are not able to offer cash refunds to your credit card as it has been more then 30 days since your purchase. However, I have added $20 worth of Tippr credit to your account for each voucher you purchased, which may be applied to future offers.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding. We truly appreciate it. Have a great day and week.

I sent them a notice back saying that this is not ok :mad:and I expect a full refund. I also pointed out that their "solution" does not make me want to work with them anymore.

I agree with you that this is unacceptable. I hope you get it worked out soon. Groupon was great and they issued a full refund to the CC used within just a few days.

I also agree with you and I also got my vouchers thru them. I think their "30 day period" should be set aside for something like this.

RALuck, that totally stinks! I hope they step up and give you the full refund you deserve!

I noticed my $30 returned to my card from Groupon earlier in the week. :thumbsup2

I received my refunds from both Groupon and Living Social.

To those that bought from Tippr, just go through your credit card company.

You need to immediately file a dispute of the charge with your credit card company. You should have at least 60 days to do that on any credit card, some allow longer. Tippr doesn't get to invoke a 30 day limit in this case.

I just got off the phone with American Express. I explained the situation and they are crediting me the charge that Tippr has made to my account. I purchased from Tippr the end of September and, since I have not received or used any tickets from Weekly Cinema, I guess AE finds that acceptable to ask for a refund. I hope things work out well for everyone else. :goodvibes

Thanks for the suggestions and words of support! I actually called my credit card this morning but the correct department was not open yet. Before I had time to call them again, I got another message from Tippr stating that they will refund my money after all:thumbsup2 . But, it does bother me that they are only fulfilling this request because I got nasty, I work in Christian Education so nasty is not my normal setting ;)

Not giving you the item you purchased is DEFINITELY grounds for a refund. And that's basically what happened here - you bought something, and they didn't deliver what was purchased. Tippr doesn't get to say "well, you didn't complain within 30 days that we didn't give you what you paid for!". They took the money, they have the responsibility to deliver. And they KNOW that the credit card companies give you at least 60 days to dispute for non-delivery - they are just hoping by sending you the email they did that you wouldn't push the issue and just give up. I find that rather shady, and wouldn't deal with Tippr anymore if that is what they are trying to pull.

Just wanted to let people know that if they used codes to prepurchase tickets at fandango, it looks like you will be fine. My daughter and her friends used some of mine to get midnight harry potter tickets (before weekly cinema shut down). There were no problems using them. :thumbsup2 BTW, she said the movie was awesome! She has been a hp fan for twelve years...even has a signed first edition.

This is what I also told AE. I had had no contact from Tippr....I learned about WC shutting down on this board! I had gotten the movie passes for my sons, who live in another town, at college. Our theaters don't accept Fandango so I was trying to utilize these from far away. sigh

I really appreciate the help I got from this thread! :goodvibes
