Just got off the phone with a VERY helpful and pleasant CM from MS (Hi Connie!) and she passed on a bit of info to me ... it seems like Online Dining Reservations are going to happen, and they could be available as early as mid-month!! Now, she was quick to add the "nothing is official until it is official" disclaimer, but she did say that they had received memos about this a while ago and just keep getting updates about it, so there is hope!!

I hope so....and i hope they have something in the code to prevent double bookings....as much as possible

Doubt it ... unless there's a CC required. It's not like they stop that kind of stuff today.

CC dining reservations are a great idea too...this is standard practice in most reservation oriented businesses.

Think this would be just for DVC site or for the main WDW reservations site? I really would prefer villa online booking over dining though.
:snooty:

We heard about this when we were booking our aug. 2009 trip. The details are not yet known to the c.m.'s as to how far in advance you will be able to book online.
The c.m. also told us that at this point you can still make reservations via phone at 6 mos out for chef mickeys and crt, but not for anything else.
I am wondering what kind of a nightmare it will be, trying to book online reservations. I can see the whole system freezing up due to the number of people trying to use the reservation system.
Before our trip to WDW a couple of weeks ago we had always traveled to disneyland. With only a 60 day window it was much easier to get character meals even. I'm curious as to what they are going to do.

I hate to be so pessimistic, but I just think there are going to be tons of problems with this. I think it'll make the really hard to reserve places even harder to get. Especially if you're browser's being a little slow on a given day. I guess we'll see. (Crossing fingers.)

I'll be curious to see how this works. Hopefully we will have to log into the site via our personal login accounts and that would help a little. At least we could log in and do a print out of all of our ADRs. I don't look forward to making my May 2009 ADRs next month.

This is for everyone. Don't know if it will just be on the WDW site or if there will also be a link on the DVC member website.

I can't see this being a good thing initially. DCL's website can barely handle the traffic when booking times open without having problems and they have a limited amount of people lobbying for certain slots. This will be much grander in scale and we are talking about Disney IT afterall.

It will be more of a headache than a benefit at first for sure.

To those who have concerns about making dining reservations online - I'm sure you'll still be able to make reservations over the phone as well. ;)

Personally I can't wait for the new system, will certainly help keep the phone bills down before each trip! :rotfl:

It has the potential to be brilliant or a debacle. To be honest, though, there isn't enough bandwidth in the Universe to keep this a smooth sailing ship.

Does this have anything to do with why I was not able to make my ADR's for my upcoming March trip? I was told to call back on November 21st to make my reservations.
