ok, most of you know what I mean, one of those inflamed papillae (tastebuds) bumps on your tongue that become really painful.

ever figure out how to get rid of them>?

last week i got one from eating citrus, drove me nuts for a week, searched online, & some suggested cutting it off with a nail clippers :scared1:.

someone else suggested maalox. well that sounded less painfull:rolleyes:.
with not too much confidence I tried setting a bit right on the sore spot for 5 min 3 x during the day. & :wizard: it was gone the next day!! ( the pain etc)

just an FYI for those who have that problem.:thumbsup2

Thanks, I'll have to remember them. Around here we call them lie bumps. Don't ask me why! But they sure do hurt!!

I have always known them as salt sores :confused3

I usually just leave it alone and avoid sweet/salty foods for a day or two and it goes away on its own.

I use the "cut-it-off" method -- instant relief.

P.S. then I rinse really, really well with Listerine.

When there is a burn or cut or irritation on the tongue, put plain old sugar on the spot. Then - very important - let it mix and melt with your saliva on the irritation. The saliva helps turn the sugar into a salve and it heals almost instantly. Repeat a couple times if necessary.

I seem to get them from eating things that are too acidic. They seem to fade quickly. I dab a bit or Orajel or something similar on them if it gets too bad.

Holy carp! Doesn't that hurt?!

Nope!

ETA: after reading this again, I thought I should clarify -- this only works on certain types of sores. The ones that are tiny little buds, the shape and size of a sesame seed. They are attached by one tiny end, and they hurt when anything brushes agains them. If I get one and leave it alone, after a day or so it develop into a full-blown sore, but if I cut it off as soon as I get it, it goes away.

I'm a canker sore expert, unfortunately. For full-blown sores, holding Listerine in your mouth on the sore is the best thing -- after it stop stinging! It will stop the pain and make it heal much faster. Just my $0.02!
