Coming down for the first time for the food and wine festival and have shceduled quite a few afternoons/evenings for Epcot.

Question to those who have been before - do you book actuall dinners as well or do you just sample your way around the world for lunch and dinner?

I'd be afraid I'd be too full for a sit down dinner?

I have read some posts on the dining reviews board, and it seems that most people had dinner reservations. Note there are some really good ones, check them out. I guess it depends on how long you will be at Disney. We too are going and since the schedule is not out yet, I plan to make 3 dinner reservations for the week. I figured if there is a conflict with a class or chef tasting I could always cancel the ADR's. There is only so much tasting from the venders that I would like to do. We are going oct.5-10th.

We also do a mix of eating/drinking around the world vs. dinners. Like mama03 posted, it depends on how long you will be at WDW and how many days you'll devote to the F&WF. Crowds/lines will be longer on the weekends, so you will want to factor that into your plans, evening ADRs at EPCOT will be harder to get. Check out last year's details, see if any special events catch your fancy. FWIW.

We never really think we will have a complete meal at the Festival. We don't do table service meals but will go to the regular counter service places in Epcot for our "real food".

The portions at the Festival are small so even if you do have a meal before, you should still be able to enjoy the selections.

But if you are going to sample more of the wine than the food, you might want to have a good meal in your stomach before you start your way around World Showcase.

We plan on spending a couple of full days plus a couple of evenings in Epcot this trip so we have 4 sit down dinners booked and 1 sit down lunch (there are just so many great restaurants in Epcot) and we will spend one "lunch" just grazing from the food stands. My husband and I did this last year and we really enjoyed it. My son can go off and do his own thing since I can't get him to eat American food much less any other kind of food.

We eat are way around the World Showcase. There is so much to try. We start at one end and try something savory from each booth. Then we turn around and try either one of the wines or the desserts from each booth on the way back. We probably spend way more than we would at a nice TS, but it is totally worth it. We justify stuffing ourselves with the fact that we have to walk to get to it. :rotfl:

We like to devote a couple of days just to snacking around the World Showcase, that way we don't have to cram all the F&W tasting into one visit.

If we have a dinner reservation scheduled for one those "snacking" days, we just make sure that we stop sampling a little bit earlier than we might otherwise and we're usually fine by the time dinner rolls around.

Of course, my husband and I are remorseless eating machines. ;)

Brenda - your reports are what have gotten us so excited about our first F+W festival! And I've almost got my DH convinced to go to the Party of the Senses!

Thanks all - I think I'll just hopefully make an ADR for LeCellier and graze around the world the other nights.

That's great to hear - thanks! And keep pushing for Party for the Senseless ... it's like snacking around the World Showcase on steroids! :lmao:

Hope you have a wonderful trip - be sure to come back and tell the rest of us all about it! :goodvibes
