I didn't see this posted on here yet, so maybe it's not common knowledge yet. I called today to reserve a camp site at FW for June '08, and the CM who made my reservation told me that they have scheduled a refurbishment of the FW pool before then, and would be adding a slide. :goodvibes I hope she knows what she is talking about!!

the CM did not give me specific dates, but our reservation is for June 2008 also, and she said it would be done before then.

If this is true...it would go a LONG way toward convincing my kids to stay in the campground. Unfortunately they've been pretty spoiled by the slides at the resorts over the years.( The WL especially) Since we also seasonal camp elsewhere, they are never to anxious to camp in Fla. Want to do something different.
Adding a slide would be GREAT:thumbsup2 (I love them!)...and it's also a long over due improvement to FW. Might even go a ways toward stopping the pool hopping situation to the WL.;)

I certainly hope you're right.

I just called and asked CRO, and she looked everywhere in her computer and could find nothing about the FW pool! Typical -- it all depends on who you talk to when you call Disney. So, don't count on it yet. :confused3

:sad2: Figures...I wish we had something proof positive...it's almost to good to be true....pirate:

We just returned in March from WL (there pool was under construction) very disappointing:sad1: But, they gave us permission to use WLV, contemporary, or poly pools for the inconveince.:goodvibes Then it turned out to be too cold to swim anyhow:confused3 I'm sure they will have an alternative besides don't they have numerous pools in FW?

FW cabins 22 days:woohoo:

There are only 2 pools at FW. The main one at the Meadows and a smaller one near the cabins. Neither one is very interesting. Just plain rectangle pools. :sad2:

They sure are nice on a hot day though :)

I take it no one really has any other confirmation of the OP's comments that a castmember mentioned the renovation and addition of a slide at the FW main pool? Wonder if there is any way to find out for sure.:confused3

True, neither are very well themed (actually, not themed really at all), although I think they work for what they are (but a really nicely themed pool at the Fort would be awesome).

There is one interesting thing about the Meadows Trading Post pool (indulge me here for a second :P). My brother and I were the first "guests" ever to step foot in that pool. We were there the day it opened, and showed up first thing in the morning when they were opening it, there was no one else there.

The lifeguard (or maybe it was maintenance, I can't remember) let us (and my parents) in and congratulated us on being the first guests to ever go in the pool. My brother and I both stood on the side of the pool and jumped in at the same time so that neither of us could ever claim that we were the actual FIRST person...lol.

Thanks for indulging me, that's really my only claim to fame when it comes to all my Disney trips, but it's something that we talk about whenever we drive past that pool....lol

I've called 3 times and talked to 3 different CMs, and none of them has any record of it. :(

I'll definitely keep trying though! :cheer2:

That is a very cool story!! :thumbsup2

You should've gotten a Magical Moments certificate for that! How cool!

lol, no worries, we got a Magical Moment alright, it was called a cool morning and at the time a freezing pool...hah

This must have been in the early 90's, maybe late 80's? I can't remember exactly when the Meadow pool opened???

I asked around at the pool today and no one had heard anything.

OP here. I guess I shouldn't post anything here again based on what one CM said. Sounds like she was either mixing FW's pool up with another resort, or just making stuff up. Sorry for the confusion.
