FW Jan 2009 Booked up already?

Just got off the phone with reservations and they told me that full hookups are booked for pretty much the month of Jan 2009. We were trying to go down in Jan 2009 from a Thursday til the following Saturday. The best he could do was Feb 19-28th. Does that sound right?

Any tips you could give would be great.

The best advice is keep calling back.

During that time, at least one loop will be closed at all times per the following schedule:

Loop 1300 – closed 1/4 to 1/23 – reopens 1/24/09.
Loop 1200 – closed 1/25 to 2/06 – reopens 2/07/09.

By this time the only full hook up loops left will be 700 & 1400 so you may have to upgrade to preferred

Also, try extending the amount of time you want to book. Try asking for Thursday to Thursday, or even Thursday to Sunday (10 days). it seems that when you ask for more days, they are available. You can book 10 and call back later and cancel whatever you don't want. It's gaming the system, but it seems to work a lot.

Thats 1/2 way threw the fort renovation. the full hook up site are having cable added and will be called prefered.The prefered ones that can be inlarged will be called premiums. If I read the update right there wont be any plain full hook up sites by the end of the first quarter of next year.

That sounds close the Daytona 500. Like right afterwards. IIRC that's an expensive month to get a site as well.

I'm not surprised even tho Jan is a slow month due to the renovations and as others have said, just keep trying and you'll get what you what in the end.

Don't you know it. But as it's a premium site we'll have cable too. It's actually $98/night before tax (trying to take the sting out of it). I will watch closely for the discounts and work on dropping the rate later.

I wouldn't give up on Jan. yet. With the price of fuel-- as it gets closer there will probably be many cancellations. I'd just keep trying---even right up till the last minute. Remember FW site only ressies can be cancelled up to within a week of arival.....so there is always a chance!!!!!

I actually pestered and pestered the poor unsuspecting CM's three times a day all week, and low and behold.... I got a site from 1-16 through 1-24!!!!

Fort Wilderness here we come!!!!!

I have learned long ago. Don't give up just keep trying. You will get want you want if you just keep trying. I have never not gotten a site when I wanted one. And Jan 2009 is still a ways off.
