FW camping in Oct. 06'

Well, like they say, "It's never too early to start planning". So we're more then a year out but I am trying to get a rather large group together (friends & family) to do this trip. Sooo.......

We'd really like to stay when the weather is nice, the rates are low and the discounts abundant. We'd like to hit MNSSHP and F&WF.
I read in another post where someone prefered Oct. I was wondering why. Please make me feel better about my choice of months. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cooler temperatures, not much rain, and low crowds. That's our rationale.

However, October is now regular season, so if you want the lowest rates, make sure you check in the last day of Value Season in late September to keep your rate lower.

Early November is also an option.

Later in November, the campground moves to "Pre-Holiday Season" and the rates are a bit higher.

Thanks for th heasd up on October becoming 'regular season'. I did not know that. Hopefully and AP rate will be available.

Has anyone camped at FW in a large group? I did with the Girl Scouts in 1981 but don't remember much.

I know the resorts are now "regular" season in October...Does that apply to FW too?? I thought I had seen that the campsites were "value" from late August right up until the pre-holiday time (unless of course we're talking about the cabins; imagine they would be priced like the hotels).

You're right. According to Deb Wills site, the campsites are value season 8/7 - 11/17. Pre-holiday starts on 11-18.

These, are, of course, 2005 dates. 2006 season dates have not been released yet.

The cabins, regular season runs 10-06 - 11/26.

We camped at FW in Oct 2003 and the weather was perfect. Warm afternoons but the nights were pleasant for sleeping without being cold. We only had 1 day of rain.
