We are planning a trip in April. We are considering the cabin at FW. Never did this before but we saw online that they have a camfire everynight with Chip and Dale and an outside movie. We'll have four kids with us and think they would enjoy this. We were considering connecting rooms at the Pop but figure food would cost to much. We can grocery shop once for the week and cook on the grill.:) Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the cabins?

I havent stayed there but heard great things about the cabins. Many really enjoy having the kitchen so you can cook if you like or atleast store some food in the fridge.

I've stayed there, but not with six people. We also did not take advantage of the movies or camp fire activities.

When I went I was 21 and traveling with my parents. We picked the cabins so they could have the bedroom and I could have the murphy bed and we all could have privacy! It was cheaper than two rooms at a moderate resort at the time we were going.

The bed room has a queen bed and bunk beds, and therefore can sleep 4 people. However, it is very small, not much floor space at all. It does have it's own t.v. though, if I remember correctly. But remember, if mom and dad are in the queen bed, and the kiddies are in the bunk beds, then mommy and daddy get no "private" time. If you have 4 kids, I'd let them sleep in the bed room (let 'em take turns in the bunk beds if that's an issue)and mommy and daddy can be alone in the murphy bed (also a queen sized bed).

The bath room is huge! However, the sink is inside it, so if some one is on the potty or taking a shower, no one can use the sink/mirror. I can't remember if it's a double sink or not, though, sorry! With six, bathroom time could be an issue. I'd try to have some take baths/showers in the evening to avoid a log jam in the mornings. And you can always brush your teeth over the kitchen sink! :)

The kitchen is small but functional. Good size fridge, stove with oven, dishwasher, microwave, and enough dishes, glasses, and silverware for 6. And only six, so you may want to bring paper plates and plastic cups of your own to use. You get pots and pans too, again not many. Our mousekeeper loaded the dishwasher for us and ran it, so all we had to do was unload it when we got back from the parks! I don't know if this is standard or if we got lucky! I beleive there was a grill outside? I think? We didn't use it, that's why I don't remember for sure. I do remember a picknick table outside though!

The living room is smallish but comfortable. It has a tv and VCR. No room once the murphy bed is pulled down from the wall, though, so once the people using it go to bed, you loose the use of the room.

Ft. Wilderness is DARK and QUIET at night! It feels like you really are in the wilderness! Very cool!

The major down side to the cabins is the transportation situation. You have to take the loop bus to get to another bus to take you to the main bus stop so you can take a boat or another bus to the park you are heading to. Takes forever! If you have a car, I highly recomend that you drive to the parks and not take Disney transport (except maybe MK, the boat ride is neat and I hear parking at MK leaves a lot to be desired).

I hope this helps!

Our best friends will now only stay at the cabins and they love them. There are only 3 in their family however. They fly to Orlando so don't have a car there, but they always reserve and rent one of the available golf carts to get around inside the campground. They take it to the bus stop, store, food, and wherever else they need/want to go. There are outlets in front of the cabin and all other golf cart parking areas in the campground. They're really popular and you see them everywhere. I'm not sure how many people they carry, but it seems to me you should fit with 2 adults and 4 kids. Saves alot of time.

Thanks everyone for your input. Sounds good. My inlaws are also going but they want to rent a house. We've done this twice and it just was'nt the same as staying inside. We are usually a family of 4 but just took in our niece(6) and nephew(8) so we want to make our trip to Disney fun, spacious, kid friendly, and inexpensive!:)

Another BIG plus for the cabins: You are NOT right on top of your neighbors, as you would be in a hotel room. Kids will be kids, and if they walk (or run or jump or skip....) the only folks they will bother will be their own family. Plus, there is a nice sized deck with a picnic table.

We are a family of three also, and we LOVED the cabins.

I'm not sure how old your kid's are but a solution to 1 bathroom might be to rqst a cabin in the 2100 loop near the 1100 loop which has a comfort station for an emergency tip to the bathroom.
I also believe they are putting a tv back in the bedroom. I really enjoy the cabins.
