Can someone please explain this a little more the FW bus system. We are going to be either 100 or 200 or the 1500 to 1900 loop I believe with the new sites where we will be put. I know there is a boat up at the marina that goes to the Magic Kingdom. So what is the best way from those area's to get to the other parks? Thanks.

Busses to all the other parks and Down Town Disney leave from the bus stop at the reception outpost. Internal FW busses will take you to either park departing area.

For us we rode our bikes to the dock to catch the MK ferry or to transfer to a monorail to go to Epcot, we drove to all the other parks. I had talked to a few peolple who waited about a half an hour to 45 minutes at the Settlement bus stop for a purple route bus. Epcot had late EMH and all the busses were busy clearing out Epcot. We always took our bike to the ferry, just didn't want to get stranded waiting for a bus after walking the parks all day. I had looked at a travel times spreadsheet and the drive times were 1/2 or better from the times taking a bus to the other parks. We still used a bit of Disney transportation after driving to the parks. We went to DHS early in the day, we were doing late EMH at DHS so we took the Friendship boat to Epcot and grazed through the World Showcase for lunch then took the boat back for our evening EMH at DHS.

We will also have our car and were thinking about driving to the further away parks - Parking is free correct for us staying on site?

You have a lot as stated above. No new sites as of today Aug. 12th and it looks like it will be a little while longer. We just left today on our way home, sniff sniff.

Just got back and I must say after the first two days waiting for buses and connecting buses we drove to the parks the rest of the trip. Parking is free for all resort guests.
Just made more sense for us.......we did use the boat a fair bit as it will take you right to MK or the other to CR or the Lodge

The buses at the Settlement Depot (near Pioneer Hall) go to Disney Hollywood Studios and Wilderness Lodge (and then MK). For all other Destinations you take internal buses to the Outpost Depot. I prefer to take the launch to get to MK (or WL or CR), it is much more in keeping with the laid-back FW feel than hopping a bus. I don't mind taking the bus to Epcot or Studios, it's not that long a trip. I hate taking the bus to AK or Downtown Disney. AK is just a LONG ride. And DD buses seem to pick up from a bunch of other resorts before heading to DD. So, if I had a car I'd definitely use it for those destinations. Well, I have dogs in the motorhome, so I would drive everywhere so I could do mid-day breaks as quickly as possible, but that's me, and I don't tow. As far as the convenience of the buses, even in low season late at night I can't recall waiting more than 20 minutes for an internal bus, and maybe 30 minutes for the DD bus.

Hope it helps.

Others have provided good information on the buses, but I think your list of sites is wrong.

Depending on the date of your arrival:
100 & 200 are preferred (W/E/S/C)
1500 is a partial hook up (W/E)
1900 is a Full Hook up pet loop (W/E/S)

If the schedule stays on track, after July 2009
100, 200 & 1900 are preferred (W/E/S/C)
1500 is still a partial hook up (W/E)

So, what did you reserve? Full hook up, preferred or partial?

Studios now picks up at Outpost also.

The only buses at Settlement are internal buses and Wilderness Lodge

Oh! Well, that simplifies things. Just when you think you're becoming an authority on something, BAM... changes :confused3 I guess I just need to get down more than once a year to keep up! :goodvibes:
