Future Disney Hotels - what do others want to see?

Disney needs another moderate before they need any more deluxe hotels.

The most recent hotels that have been added to (adjacent/landlocked) WDW have been outsourced by Disney. The Four Seasons, and the hotels to open soon at Flamingo Crossings.

Is it possible that Disney is done building their own resorts (besides DVC)?

I wish they had Disney ride themed rooms. Like haunted mansion, jungle cruise, small world. That kind of stuff!

They could do a Magic Kingdom resort with buildings themed after the park's greatest hits. I imagine this kind of resort would have to be either in the Value or Moderate range.

By allowing the Four Seasons to build within WDW, I think Disney may have given up on the luxury market for now.

It would be really interesting to see what they could come up with though.

It's a bummer. I think they really want to keep Grand Floridian as their flagship resort, which I can understand. However the resort itself is a few steps below what a true flagship/luxury resort should be.

Same answer I've had to similar threads for a long time: Disney's Hollywood Hills Resort. Moderate near DHS themed to classic old Hollywood, with buildings designed like the old "movie star mansions" and a central building like an Art Deco movie studio.

I'd really like another compact, "citified" Mod besides POFQ.

And am I the only one who is disappointed that they never built the 1900s-1940s half of POP?

I'm a stickler when it comes to theming consistency (so that whole Hourglass Lake leading to a completely hotel things will always bother me). What they should have done was finish off the rest of Pop Century like they had originally planned. They they could have built AoA in a separate area of WDW in multiples like the All Stars. This would allow for even more films be represented and get their own buildings. I am interested in seeing more AoA resorts. Curious to see what kind of films would get their own suites.

Definitely another moderate hotel!

A European hotel in the style of CSR would be great...one section could be Spain, one France, maybe Italy and Greece. Make each section reflect the architecture of that country.

Alternately, if they wanted to bring "fantasy" to the mods, a Pixie Hollow theme. The sections would be Spring, Summer, and Fall (Winter might be harder, but not impossible). The rooms could have shiplap feature walls and whimsical elements.

I had an idea back in the day where they should have built a suite in each of the country pavilions in Epcots World Showcase and keeping the theming as intricate and accurate as possible to each country then they could randomly give away a suite each night.

I think an Asian inspired resort would be very tranquil and spa like. I would put it closer to Animal Kingdom so it kinda represents that section of the park like AKL represents the Africa section. I fab 5 theme value would be cool too.

:thumbsup2

I fear that's what happening too. It's much easier for them to expand on the resorts they have than build a new one for the ground up. One thing they could consider is a new category of hotels. One inbetween either Value-Moderates or Moderates-Deluxes. I also think they need to have more affordable multi-room options for large groups without forcing them to do DVCs or risk getting non-connecting rooms.

I love your ideas for how they should have finished POP and what they should have done with the AOA concept. I really wish they had created/built AOA to have both Family Suites AND Standard Rooms in every themed section - I would totally stay in the Cars section if I could get a standard room there. Thinking about what other movies they could use in further AOA resorts, my first instant thought was, Wreck-it-Ralph would be awesome!! I would love that. And I might even spring for a totally unneeded family suite to stay in Zootopia. For Pixar, Monsters Inc would seem like a no-brainer. The Incredibles would offer something for folks wanting a superhero themed resort. Who wants to bet there would be a Frozen section? I'd vote for a Lilo & Stitch section which could be home to the resort's feature pool. Bug's Life would make a fun section with the larger-than-life feel and "found objects" in the furnishings. Of the classics, a Peter Pan/Neverland section, or a section based on the animated Alice in Wonderland would be fun.

I finally Googled for and found some info online about the abandoned "Pop Century Legendary Years" plans and I am more unhappy than ever that they didn't build this! Apparently, the 1900s/1910s pool was going to be a dirigible, the feature pool in the 1920s was a giant Coke bottle, and the 40s pool was shaped like the Route 66/US Highway sign. The 1930s would have been the equivalent of the 1970s at POP, with no pool, but a giant Monopoly board in the middle, and a wind-up Buck Rogers toy spaceship as one of the building icons. I'm sure they probably figured no one would know/remember/care about things that happened before they were born, but sheesh, Disney, this would have been so cool for those of us who actually do dig "old fashioned stuff"!!
