hi all, just joined the forum and this is my first post so ber with me if anything is not quite as it should be, i'm new to forums/discussion boards as a whole!

The first thing i wanted to do was get talking to some other disney brides (preferably from the UK) out there who'v been married at the disney wedding pavillion or the rose garden in Magic Kingdom in the last year. Hope some of you can share you experiences and give advice.

I know very very little about disney weddings apart from it would be the escape package we would be going for as this is tailored for a small wedding with 20 or less guests and this package includes champagne toast an cake cutting which suits us great as we having reception back home in scotland after the wedding.
Plan to get married in June 2014.
Would love to stay at disney swan/dolphin hotel for a week/the 5 night minimum needed as part of wedding package. Is this hotel an option or is it not eligible with the escape package?
also can anyone give me rough guide on prices eg upgrading photography package, getting videography package for ceremony etc as disney do not give you these prices until after you book? (i know prices will prob go up by time i book as well!)

think that is all for now look forward to talking to you lovely disney fans like me :):thumbsup2

Welcome to the boards!

I honeymooned at Disney back in 1986, technically I'm not qualified to
give advice on the subject. ;)
However, I wanted to point out that, in addition to this forum, there
is another forum here dedicated to Weddings/Honeymoons.

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55

Congratulations to both of you!

I don't have the link to the site right at the moment, but my friend just registered on a Disney site.

They do a bridal/honeymoon registration, where your friends/family can purchase gifts for you, like anywhere from a meal to tickets to a tour, etc.

Of course, it wouldn't cover your resort, since Swan/Dolphin are not Disney resorts, but it would help defray some expenses while you are there.

She is getting married late in life, and they have enough stuff including two homes they have to pare down into one, so they thought this would be a wonderful way to get the trip of their dreams, without getting yet another toaster.....:thumbsup2

Have fun planning and welcome to the boards.

One of the mods will probably move this, but as a Disney bride myself, I can definitely reccomend that you ask these questions on the Weddings and Honeymoons board - lots of help over there, and a lot of UK brides.

Congrats and happy planning!

Thank you for the link to the wedding forum vivianne and thanks for the info for the disney gift thing missytara. i think this is a good idea we planning to have our own house before 2014 so like your friend wouldn't need toasters etc. if you could find the link that would be great(no rush) and if not i will try and find it.
didn't know where to find the wedding section or if i had even posted this in the right place! so thank you all for your quick replies!

xXx

also didn't know that swan/dolphin is not classed as disney hotel?? is there a reason for this or something? think this would possibly mean it wouldn't count towards our complusary nights stay for the package but hopefully someone can tell me more about this :)

I'm not a UK bride but I can answer some questions:

The Magic Kingdom ceremony at Swan Boat Landing is not an option for the escape package.

Your stay at the Swan/Dolphin would not count towards your stay minimum as it is not Disney owned and operated.

I highly recommend you purchase the Passporters Disney Weddings and Honeymoons ebook which contains current pricing for the add ons and is updates regularly. You don't have to pay to redownload the updated book.

thank you for that information wendy, i'd looked into swan boat landing/the rose garden at disney although it seems its more expensive/needs more than 20 guests/needs minimum spends on beverages etc which we'd not b havin as wouldn't have reception in disney will have it back home. feel this is probably not an option altho it would b a dream come true to get married right next to the castle so if anyone knows a way to do this wi only 11 or so guests then please help lol
do u hav link/know where i can find the passporters ebook as this would b great to have. i have the official brochure thing from disney weddings and hooneymoons but it doesn't give you prices for add ons etc only prices from .... for each package as a whole.
Thats a real shame swan/dolphin don't count it is the one we are desperate to stay at the most but thanks for confirming that we will just need to fall in love with another disney hotel.

You can have your wedding at the Swan and Dolphin - there are many brides on here who have done just that. I think their prices are also a little more reasonable than DFTW.

That will take you to the book information that Wendy mentioned.

thank you mb187143 hadn't actually thought about having the wedding at the swan and dolphin, had decided that if i couldn't get married right next to the castle *** of price an guest numbers then i would hav the wedding pavillion instead but the swan an dolphin provides another option to look into. thanks for the link goin to have a look now :D

I second a Swan and Dolphin wedding!!

We looked into an Escape but it was too restrictive. We looked into Wishes but it was too restrictive for us AND too pricey!

The Swan and Dolphin is PERFECT. The planner, Karen, is awesome, there are hardly any restrictions and it's affordable!

Here's a few Swan and Dolphin links:

Here's a really pretty wedding at the Swan and Dolphin: http://www.disneyweddingblog.com/2011/07/wedding-spotlight-michelle-russell.html

I'm sure Jo will stop by soon. She is from the UK and did a Swan and Dolphin vow renewal- it was just gorgeous and she's a big help!!

Feel free to check out the planning journal link in my signature as I am planning a Swan and Dolphin wedding!

Arr my sweet Faith knows me so well!!!! As predicted, here I am!!

Hi sweetie and congrats from another (VR) UK bride!!!

As you like the S/D, have you considered a S/D wedding? I realize that you seem to have your heart set on the WP, but in case you are open to suggestions, I strongly recommend that you look in to S/D weddings!!!
They are still right there in WDW and can include everything that can be included in DFTW packages (with the exception of Cinderella's coach and a MK bridal shoot). The S/D packages are much more flexible that the smaller DFTW packages and are significantly cheaper (in some cases, about half the price!!). Also, IMHO, the wonderful planner who co-ordinates the weddings for S/D, Karen, is much better at communication and keeping you up to speed, than some of the DFTW planners appear to be - this is of utmost importance when planning such an event from a long distance!!!
My gorgeous husband and our celebrated our VR in May and it was perfect!!!
We had the ceremony at the Swan, reception dinner at the GF (Citrico's) and had photos taken (with the great Randy Chapman), at the Contemporary (BLT), Swan, Boardwalk and GF (inside and on the beach). We also did a TTD session at the Poly later in the week. I really feel that I missed out on none of the magic and paid much less for my amazing day that a lot of DFTW brides have to pay!!
Feel free to check out my PJ/TR (link in my signature), and if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask - we are all very friendly on the boards!!!
Where in Scotland are you? I am in the North of England (Cumbria)
Good luck with your decision sweetie!!

thanks to everyone for the posts yes i see jo/tinkerbell's post below an she also posted same message on the thread in the weddings section. off to look at her pics right now :) thanks for all the links having a look through them all tonight an goin to speak to my fiance think we need to seriously consider changin the venue to the S/D since we prob won't b stayin there now!

Sweetie - Just to clarify. If you opt for a S/D wedding, there are no minimum room requirements to meet, as there are with DFTW packages (you are not required to stay at either the S/D or any other Disney hotel). As a S/D bride you can stay wherever you like, and the hotel will usually provide you with a room in which to get ready on the day. Of course, many brides do stay at the S/D or another WDW hotel - we stayed at BLT.

thanks again to everyone for your help! spend the last week pourin over peoples TR's videos an photos from weddings in both venues.
After this an talkin it thro wi the fiance i think we'r goin to stick wi the wedding pavillion, stay in some other disney hotel an mayb spend 2 or 3 nights in the S/D either at the very beginning or end of our holiday. We r thinkin either the polynesian hotel or the french quarter or possibly the key west resort.

Has anyone ever experienced any of these hotels have anything they'd like to share about them or a TR from a stay there? would love to here from u all again :)
