Future cruise desk?

I read a report that they have done away with this on recent Fantasy sailings. “Go to the app, and book a placeholder.” Anyone confirm this? We always enjoyed talking to the advisor and seeing what cabins were available on what sailings, and always booked at least a placeholder, if not a live cruise. If this really is eliminated seems really short sighted.

It is/was that way as part of the Covid mitigation, but that does not mean a "live person" won't return soon.

The desks are still there and Disney hasn't announced any plan to use that space for something else, so I'd expect the future cruise staff to return in the future.

Agreed, I feel the same way. They aren't back yet, but I hope someday they will return. The desk is still sitting there empty.

What's also odd is that they've moved the DVC desk down to the atrium at a weird sort of kiosk on the Dream and Fantasy instead of having it at the actual DVC desk. I have no idea why.

Same with the Dream and Magic. No people at the desks. It has been that way since cruising restarted. Don't know if a live person will be back or not.

I don’t like to use my onboard account as my place holder. I want to use a gift card or separate card from my onboard account. No desk open on Fantasy and Magic this year both were lost and re-made by calling DCL customer service. If it wasn’t for people complaining that they lost hers I wouldn’t even known that mine was lost.
