I have been thinking of different things Disney will have to (possibly) change because of the virus.

I was thinking how cool it would be if character meet and greets would be like the technology used in Turtle Talk and Laugh Floor. Maybe they could make life-sized screens for individual characters that could interact with each guest in individual areas (Ariel in her grotto, for example). From Mickey to the princesses, even though you can't hug and touch them, they would be talking to you/your children.
Of course, besides the cost and technology involved, it would take some quick-thinking and talented voices.

I think it is unlikely Disney will invest money in that sort of temporary change. I heard that a character meal has been happening at one of the Disney hotels in Shanghai. Granted, that doesn't mean the same will be true for WDW. Perhaps guests will be able to see characters at meals, but they will parade thru the restaurant and wave rather than meet individually. Idk. We are supposed to go this summer with 2 preschoolers and the loss of characters would definitely give my family something to think about as to whether rescheduling to a later date would be better.

speculation on what Disney will do is being discussed on the news and rumors forum, closing this one
