Furntiure delivery Tipping ?

We are having a sectional, a loveseat for the living room, and a chest & mirror for the hall and a dresser for the bedroom delivered today. How much would you tip? All pieces are on the first floor. I'm not really sure whent it comes to delivery people? Any suggestions?

I have never tipped furniture people, ever. Do people do that?

I never tip new furniture delivery. I've always been charged a delivery charge too. Maybe if it were free delivery I'd consider it.

I did tip our movers, though, this past Spring...$20 each.

We just got my dd's bedroom set - twin bed, dresser, mirror, nightstand. I ended up tipping $40 because they took moved her old dresser, nightstand, mirror into the garage, took apart her old bed and put it in the garage, and set up her new room/bed (even put the dust ruffle on her bed LOL). Her bedroom is on the first floor, so there were not any stairs except for going in and out the house to the back. I figured it was Christmas week (yep, delivered two days before christmas!) and they did more than I asked them to do.

When my matress got delivered I tipped $20 for the 2 guys. They were shocked, one even said this is my first tip and I have been doing this for 2 years. I didn't have to pay shipping they were having a sale.

I have always tipped delivery people. I am paying over 200. for delivery so maybe I just might not this time. but knowing me I probably will

I don't tip furniture delivery. I consider that to be part of their job. Even when they moved our old furniture, carried our heavy bedroom furniture upstairs and set it up I didn't tip because that was what the delivery charge included. Even if it was free delivery I wouldn't tip unless they did something way beyond what they were supposed to do.

BTW, I consider myself to be a fairly good tipper, but you have to draw the line somewhere.....I always tell my husband I don't get a tip for just doing my job (I am lucky to get a cost of living raise).

I generally give $5 each but on occasion I've made them all lunch to go.
