Last night we moved the furniture out of my mother's apartment. About 10 minutes into the move, the rain came down. I had coverings for the items but some of the stuff got wet anyway. :( One of the small tables now has some considerable water spotting. I was stuck over at the apartment and none of the guys thought to wipe it off when it got to my house.

Is there any way to get the finish back to the way it was without refinishing the table? I tried several different kinds of polish but none of them had any effect.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I just checked my "Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean" book and this is what she recommends:

Massage mayonnaise into the marks and leave it overnight. The next morning wipe off the mayonnaise and the marks s/b gone. You can also use petroleum jelly, butter or margarine.

Good luck.

Water Spots On Furniture
Take an old, worn-in toothbrush and some baking soda. Wrap the bristles in a soft, damp cloth and then dip in the baking soda. Rub the water spot area gently to remove the stain.

If that doesn't work, Formby's makes a product that evens out the finish.
