It sounds like they were implying they specifically asked for and got the upgrade which would have been an outright lie. If this is the case, they are dishonest and I'd never use them again. OTOH, if the TA just casually mentioned that the OP got an upgrade and how great that was for them, I'd have no problems at all. Only the OP and TA really have an idea of what happened and the OP will have any decisions to make for future travel choices.
