While at MGM on our trip last week I was standing near the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground waiting for other family members. Right across from me were 2 moms with their kids.

I had to laugh when I heard one of the moms say "Well, do you kids want to go back to Disney where we were yesterday or would you rather go to that other place that is the zoo?"

I guess some people are just so uneducated about Disney!! :p

While I was there in december, I can't tell you how many people on the buses would refer to Magic Kingdom as Disney.

It would drive me crazy!

Hey Melsmice--that is too funny! I'm sure many others have similiar stories which those "seasoned veteran's" would find hilarious.

P.S. We're neighbors--Depew here!!!!! It is really a "small world."

It sure is a small world. I'm off of Transit near Salvatore's!!

About 10 years ago my son and I were at MGM and we overheard this couple wondering when the monorail would come by to pick them up. They were serious! (We helped them out) They would still be there waiting for the monorail......

Another neighbor!

I lived in North Tonawanda my whole life until I got married!

It really is a very, small world. Bimmy--you are not too far away either.

Melsmice--Funny you should mention Salvatore's as a location--my all time favorite place to eat--sounds good right about now. We are much closer than probably we both antipcated. I'm right over by Walden/Central (just about a block away). Too Funny!

Either of you want to hop in my suitcase--we leave in just about two weeks for Poly/conceirge. There's always plenty of room. Hee Hee!

I got a good laugh when...

We were at POR getting on a park bus (can't remember which one) when a family asked the bus driver if this was the bus to Walt Disney World. The driver said, well you are in WDW. They said no they weren't, they were at the resort and they wanted to take the bus to Walt Disney World. They were being totally serious. The bus driver finally explained that it was called the Magic Kingdom, not Walt Disney World.

Well for those of us that went to WDW when there was only the MK, the MK was commonly refered to as Disney World. I still, to this day, use that term!!! Anyway what ever you call it, it is WONDERFUL!!!

I did the College Program, and I worked in merch. at MGM near the front gates. I can't remember how many times I had to give directions to people wanting to go to "Walt Disney World". Mister, you are smack dab in the middle!

The worst were foreign guests who couldn't understand me. They really wanted to get to "Disney World". So I would just ask them "Castle"? Yup...get on the number 8 bus. :)

It is amazing how much people don't know. Or maybe it's amazing how much we do know. :p

When I was walking through Adventureland in March I overhead this mom saying to her kid, while pointing at Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride... "Oh, look honey, there's Dumbo! Would you like to ride that?"

I kept wondering if she thought it was funny that Dumbo didn't have huge ears!!!

Very small world - I own a dance studio right down the street from Tonawanda High School!!

hehehe. I actually worked at MK on WDWCP, so I didn't get that problem usually- though I once had a lady accidentally ask for Magic Kingdom when she meant to say Fantasyland, but that was just a slip. hehe. On the reverse- I had someone ask me where ToT was! My roommate had someone once *insist* he had taken the monorail to MGM!

I worked in tomorrowland, and people were constantly asking me how to get on TTA and what it was. One person asked if it was a coaster. Another thought it circled the park.

Oh, here's a great one that I read on a college program message board. Someone who worked at MGM was asked when did they get rid of the castle!

In defense of everyone who thinks Disneyworld is Magic Kingdom. I remember when I first went to WDW as an adult, I was "lost". WDW is very big and overwhelming if you are not familar with it. I remember pouring over the maps, books, etc. to try and figure out a game plan. Now that I have gone so many times the place is kinda "small" because now I know what to do and what to avoid. First timers don't have the privilege. So everyone try to remember their first time at WDW.

OK, posting from Akron (just outside of Clarence)! How about a DisMeet at Salvatores! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Ummm, in response to the original post... can't think of anything right now... lol! Sorry...

Karen

Oh...A dis meet at Salvatore's sounds great. I live in Hamburg, but teach at Depew!

Last week on a bus ride back from MGM a teenager was talking to his little brother about Tom Sawyer's Tree House--the little one said he wasn't sure if he' like the raft ride and the big one answers it's not on the island it is near the jungle boats and magic carpets. I wonder if the Swiss Family Robinson know that Tom Sawyer moved in?;)

Hi Fellow WNYers! I'm posting from Kenmore!!

Anyway, I thought you'd appreciate what my 3 1/2 yo ds said when he saw the sphere (Spaceship Earth) at EPCOT:

"Mommy, it's Disney World!"

I couldn't correct him ... didn't have the heart to do it! Now, at age 6 1/2, he knows the difference!!!

I think this kind of stuff is so funny. People amaze me.

This is a little different, but along the same lines.

We were at a wedding this weekend and talking with some folks and mentioned we were going to Disney in 4 weeks. The man said "oh no - me and my kids never want to go back there. We went once and paid $200.00 to get in the park (one day tickets obviously) and only got to ride 3 rides." I said, "hmmmm, it must have been a very crowded time of year." He said, "well, it was only a thursday."

I just smiled and thought, bless your heart. That's what we southerners say and think when we're being artificially nice.

I also had a friend to go and she said "I hated Epcot. We got there around noon and had to wait in lines and all we saw were a bunch of exhibits where you ride through." So sad for those folks who don't feel the magic.

Well, I'll be feeling it in 26 days and lovin' every minute of it.

PamNC
