So a guy at work told DH that he saw on the news (not sure what news he was watching) that they are going to shut down Epcot because the "structure" can't handle the hurricanes.....lol when DH told me this I got a good laugh so I thought I would share.

Aside from "Epcot" being a park, not a structure, if he meant "Spaceship Earth", they wouldn't have done what they did to rebuild it and then say, "Hey, on the off chance a hurricane hits us point blank, we should just close it completely..."

A lot of people probably don't know that Spaceship Earth is built in a certain way as to not create any sort of wind tunnel or vortex or anything underneath it, also it has a sort of gutter and drain system built right into the design. I know both of these wouldn't help too much in a hurricane, but I think most things at WDW are built with hurricanes in mind! As far as I know, Florida and Orlando were still getting hurricanes back in the 60s and 70s.... I think the Imagineers and engineers would have thought of the area's weather when building and planning!!! Thanks for sharing! I also got a good laugh out of this, because as you can probably tell from my signature, Epcot/ Spaceship Earth more specifically, is my favorite park/ ride.

Lol yes I know I found all of this quite funny. I asked DH if this guy is aware it's a park not a "structure" with buildings just like the other parks.
