Funny responses from strangers...

In 2007 my wife and I were at animal kingdom, and I had on a Louisville cardinals shirt. Someone in line to exp. Everest asked if I was from KY. I said yes so they asked if I new George. I asked where in KY is George... They said somewhere between Tennessee and Indiana

It's like when anyone from the STATE of New York saying "I'm from NY" and having someone automatically assume you mean New York City. Although honestly I don't know anything north of Albany.

And as far as bless their heart, I figured out the Northern equivalents to it. We have "Well I'm sure they're nice but..." or "I love them but..." We compliment first then insult. Y'all Suthnrs do it backwards. :rotfl2:

Born and lived in Michigan :) Hi all my fellow Metro Detroit-ers!

My fav is when I moved to New Mexico for a bit, I was asked if I had to get my passport to move there >.<

I recently just moved to Flint, and get looked at funny, like why did you move there. I have to say that I was naive, and did not know the reputation that was associated with this part of Michigan.

I remember one time that I struck up a conversation with someone in one of the water parks, can't remember which one. I was wearing water shoes and they were like it must be a Florida thing, I told them that I was from California (born and raised) they acted off put because they were from there too and had never heard of water shoes.

So I had a random thought. When you are chatting with someone you just met while there, what kinds of questions have you been asked. Such as with me when I say I am from Detroit I have been asked if I have met Kid Rock or Eminem. Like They are my neighbors...lol another one more often is they just stop talking all together as if we are all criminals. Like yeah I had to shoot three guys just to get one the plane...lol

:rotfl2: I am SO guilty of that one myself! Both of the DDs also do it, but our version is, "I'm sure she's a good person and Jesus still loves her, however..."

Heh, yes.

Try coming from the Netherlands ( which is in Europe and better known as Holland but don't use that as that is part of the country and some people are touchy about that).
I actually was asked a few times where Europe was....

And no we
- aren't all on drugs
- walk on wooden shoes (some do but not all)

And yes
- we have an awful lot of bicycles around so pay attention when leaving the sidewalks please
- what those ladies do is legal and they do pay income-tax.

And yes, we massively laughed our butts off when watching that silly film from Fox news about our country a few years ago :rotfl2:

I'am from Germany.
Yes, Hitler is dead and there is no more war here...
And no, I don't have Lederhosen (and outside of Bavaria, no one does) and I don't drink beer all the time.

When I tell people I'm from New Mexico, sometimes I get asked, what part of Mexico are you from. Or I didn't know New Mexico is a state. :lmao:

When we went to WDW last April I was wearing my KU Jayhawks hat and a CM at Buzz Lightyear's said "Hey! Rock Chalk!", so that was pretty cool. Actually, I wear that hat more because I like the fit of it than for my love of Kansas University. The only sports I am really into is Miami Dolphins football, huge fan since I was a kid. The funny thing is, at WDW when I wore any of my Dolphins shirts or hats, nobody said a word. Has the whole state just given up on them? :sad1:

When we met tiana and naveen I asked dd if she enjoyed her cuddle with tiana? Naveen replied you said cuddle where are you from? As if the accent isn't enough of a give away I said the uk they both gasped and asked if we had any Jaffa cakes on us or could we bring them some :/

We're from Scotland. I always get asked if I know someone's 4th removed cousin who lives about 200 miles away.

When I worked in an American summer camp. One mum asked me to keep talking as she loved my accent.

Whenever we say we're from Kansas City, we get interrupted with oh, "Kansas". No, we're from Missouri...there is a Kansas City, Missouri which is much larger (population-wise) than KCK. And no, I don't prounounce it Missour-ah (I have no idea where that comes from!).

But, I do love BBQ. And no I will not argue with you if you are from Memphis, the Carolinas or TX. I am an equal opportunity BBQ lover. :cool1:

I'm from England, haven't met the queen or seen the Beatles :-) me and my dgf did get asked to keep talking in Planet Hollywood by two texan ladies as they loved our accents :-) haha

Hey, my DBIL is from Scotland, and I used to work at a summer camp here in Ohio. Do you know me, lol?

We are from Indiana. I have been asked if we live in corn fields. I had no idea people thought Indiana was just corn fields and farm land.

We live outside of Atlanta... and we were asked.. it is hot there? :rotfl2:

We lived in Saline MI ( and Dearborn...) love Michigan!!

I have gotten some odd questions. Once when I was a teenager I was asked if I was from Eroupe? Don't know where that came from, I am from the upper peninsula of Michigan or a Yooper as we are called and most people think we sound Canadian. I am now an Alaskan and when you tell people you are from there in a Disney park they have often been on a cruise so or are thinking about taking one. Mostly people ask about bears, how long are the days and have you met Sara Palin. I have lots of bear stories, the days are really long or short and I almost ran over Sara coming down a steep hill with a curve in it that she was crossing not at the cross walk. Honestly I think I am the person people would tell stories about, "I met the strangest person in line" lol.

When we lived in Alaska everyone would ask if we knew Sara Palin, too. Alaska is kind of a big state....
