I was shopping in our neighborhood Kroger, AS USUAL, there is always something you need on this WOE.... :p ...

One of the workers I see regularly came over to me and screamed out "YOU'RE MELTING AWAY!!!" Another cashier who also knew me grabbed my clothes, shook them and shook her head. She said in broken English... No NO, you lose too fast, NO NO!"

I assured her I was alright but she looked at me with motherly concern.... POOR ME!

I don't know when such concern was such a compliment! :bounce:

they're jealous:bounce: and confused -- they can't imagine how you can do it when they've tried before.

KUDOS to you robin -- way to go!!! now go treat yourself to some clothes that fit!!

It feels good to be getting those compliments doesn't it Robin?! You and Michael have worked so hard, and you deserve them--I bet you're both just GORGEOUS! Just for a little dose of reality: Don't be surprised if some people put you down for all your hard work. I was asked "Why would you do this to yourself?!" (what-- go from 235 to 125--many reasons--how does it affect you?) and "Do you have cancer or something?" (she knew I didn't) among other things. These people weren't showing genuine concern, they were just being hurtful. It did kind of hurt at first, until I realized that jealousy can be a very nasty thing. You enjoy your compliments, Robin, and try to keep those ladies off Michael the best you can!:hyper: You both are doing such a great job!

What wonderful compliments. Aren't those compliments motivating??? Compliments+WISH+the right eating plan for you=success.

You're both doing great and I'm truly proud of you.

Next time they show concern simply say:

"As a single mother I know how important my good health is for my son's future and I would never jeopardize my health. That's why I'm losing weight, to get healthier. I appreciate your concern for me, though. Thank you!"

If that doesn't work just smile ;)

Congratulations on being noticed! Take the compliment as just that, and their concern as a compliment. Smile for them and give 'em your best Katholyn response! I like what she said.
Good for you! You should be proud!

Getting noticed let's you know that you are really doing good and working hard WAY TO GO!!!!! From the posts that I've read I can truely see that you and your son are doing great! As was already said take all the comments and concerns as a complement, if you hadn't of worked for it, they wouldn't have noticed, and if they hadn't noticed then they wouldn't have said anything, so you should feel soooooo....... gooooooood!

Onward and downward!
WISHing away the pounds,
Kelly:sunny:

Hi Robin, I think you and Michael are doing wonderfully! Keep up the great work. Boy, can I relate to your story. I didn't feel good over the weekend but by Sunday I was feeling better. I think my family tried to do a mini intervention for me! They got together (the ladies of course, guys were watching the Superbowl) and proceeded to express concern about me not feeling well. Okay, that's fine. Then they started to say I was probably sick from my diet. They said things like everybody can't just change their eating habits like that. And then they would say, are you sure you should be losing weight this fast? And on and on.

I read on another lc website something I incorporated into my own life when people start expressing concern over my weight loss. I say something like, "I appreciate your concern. I really do. But no one said anything to me when I was stuffing my face with tripple whoppers and quarts of butter pecan ice cream. I like eating this way and it's the way I intend to eat for life. I am happy and comfortable with it so please get used to it." I say it with as much love and concern in my voice as I can because I know that people care but they have to get used to the new us.

You keep going girl!!!!!

LOL! You guys are too funny!

Believe me I am no novice in this game, I've been dieting since I was 14! My first real transformation was when I was 23, I went from 210 to 123 in 8 months. Talk about REACTION!! I kept it off until I had my first son at 31, lost it again at 41 when I got very ill, got better and there I was again! Yep, I'm the YO YO queen!

This time is different, though, because I know now what I was doing WRONG!

Way to go! Ya gotta love those NSV's. (non-scale victories)
