We were watching the Challenger launch on a small black and white TV in the office at the firm I worked for at the time. I was 23 years old.
Shuttle launches were still relatively new then, plus Christa McAuliffe garnered it even more media attention.
I remember it exploding a few seconds after one of the ground crew said “Challenger, go with throttle up.”
We all just sat there speechless for at least a solid minute.
Such a sad event.

OK, am I the only one that noticed the red on top of his head, possibly indicating blood from Jesus’ crown of thorns…?!
That’s why my first thought was that it was Jesus.
