It's really a shame that today's kids don't have this universal shared experience. My daughter claims Spongebob is it for her, but I still don't think it's quite the same. The silver lining of fewer entertainment options I suppose.

It was a good day when they wheeled in that TV cart!!

I remember the overhead projector, but was out of school before they invented the VCR. heavy sigh. For us, the best day was when the teacher got out the movie projector.

VCR's existed, but I don't even remember when my school got one. We used to get the "film strips" with just still frames advanced when an audio track instructed.

I had those too! But the wheeled in cart is memories of middle and high school.

Elementary, movie projector in library the day before Christmas Break. I remember Freaky Friday and Herbie the Love Bug! (and the standard learning movie projector films but those were never as fun to watch)

My best prank in HS was when our Senior Year English teacher (who was probably in her 70s) told us we were going to watch some movie the next day. That was before universal remotes, so a buddy and I brought multiple remotes from home and when she turned the VCR on, we turned it off. She'd turn the TV on, we'd turn it off. She'd hit PLAY, we'd hit REWIND.

The class was in on it and laughing uncontrollably. Another student told her it must be an electrical problem, and had her try the other side of a duplex outlet. This went on for 10-15 minutes with her getting more frazzled. She finally went next door to get the AV teacher who came in and said "Who has the remotes?" We behaved after that.

I had that look when I realized that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was closer in time to the Beatles being on Ed Sullivan than it is to today.
