There are all sorts of neat things to spot with Google Earth and Google Street View. Apparently including some guy that's ****canned and passed out in his neighborhood.

When this drunken Aussie was shaken awake by police he prayed none of the neighbors had seen him collapsed on the curb. Unfortunately millions could gaze at his slumped form. For at the moment he passed out, Google's Street View camera car was filming in that corner of Melbourne. And the man - identified only as Bill, 46, - is not happy. The fisherman who had been drowning his sorrows at a funeral, said: "I wasn't thinking there would be someone driving by with a camera."
Now I've never been to a jeans and tennis shoe funeral, but I'm sure they exist. But Bill, a word of advice -- there is ALWAYS somebody driving by with a camera. If it's not Google, it's the government or a psycho ex-girlfriend. Or maybe the PI your wife hired to catch you cheating. My point is this: if you have to pass out, keep your legs out of the ****ing street you moron. Because if the camera car had been driving anything like I do, now performing a Google search for "your legs" wouldn't find any matches.

Hit the jump to see a picture of a Google Street View of a house on fire from Sherwood, Arkansas.

Google Street View: Private moments captured

Google Street View, the eye-level mapping service that lets billions of web users peek into gardens and through front windows, has its sights set on you.

The revolutionary project – which has raised serious privacy fears - already covers more than 50 US cities, and mapping has reportedly taken place in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

One of the most famous Google Street View captures: A boy was filmed before, during and after a bike fall

The internet giant is reluctant to discuss future plans, but its camera cars have been spotted in Italy and Spain this year, and experts believe it is only a matter of time before Street View arrives in Britain.

Street View differs from the popular Google Earth service in that it offers users a close-up perspective of cities as if they are walking along the streets.

The images are obtained from specially-fitted cars that drive along roads taking panoramic 360 degree recordings of everything they find – from customers stepping out of shops, to children playing in front gardens, to couples lounging in parks.

Google has promised to obey local privacy legislation, but lawyers have warned that British data protection laws could make Street View’s eventual launch in the UK a legal minefield.

Google already takes down images deemed inappropriate, when they are flagged up by users, but by that stage embarrassing or intrusive pictures could have been seen across the world. And although it is legal in Britain to take photos of people without their permission, that protection does not apply when the images are used for commercial purposes.

To give an illustration of the privacy issues Street View raises, here are a selection of the potentially embarrassing, intrusive, or amusing photos that have been spotted on the US version.

Here's the house fire in Arkansas:

Here's a boy riding his bike and then falling off (three shots)

Here's someone's apartment windows up close, so close you can see her two kitties (that's scary!)

Here's a car after it hit a tree:

Here's some sunbathers - again, pretty scary that just about anyone in the world can see them like this!

And here's some guy trying to get into his house....He probably lost his key, poor guy

Does anyone know how long it takes for the photos to get posted from the time the car with the camera drives through?

I saw a car about a week ago with a multi-sided camera mounted on top of the car, so I'm assuming it could be a Google Street View car, but the area I was in does not have the street view option yet on Google maps.

My husband's college graduation is captured on regular Google Earth. I didn't even realize that Google was doing a street view. That seems a bit invasive of privacy. Don't they need permission to post pictures of property and such?

It's not any more invasive of you and I driving down the street snapping shots and putting them on our Facebook accounts.
