First off, this is not a topic for debate!!!!!!!!! I don't care how many times anyone in particular uses their mug, not my business!!!

Anyway, we are toying with the idea of going back to wdw next summer. DD, a wisecracking 13 year old diser says to me, "Well, I don't know about you, but I am going to take back my old AKL mug, my george forman grill, squeeze 5 friends in our room, and pool hop!" Ha ha miss smarty, you've had too much of the dis lately.

So, I was actually washing our AKL mugs after the conversation (because we drank out of them, not because I am packing htem :rotfl: ). I looked at it, right were the handle is and it says something along the lines of, "Free refills until the end of your stay. Free refills from location of purchase only." I had never noticed that before and was proud to tell her, "Ha, there is disney's official word, there is nothing left to debate!!"

Anyway, maybe you had to be there, but it was funny to me :teeth: :teeth:

Yep...they now have it printed on the handle so there is no confusion. I know this always starts long debate. I have mugs from PO-FQ when it was just PO & have them from the AS-Sports when you were allowed to bring them back each visit. They were suppose to be for life, but with every new day a change comes & Disney has changed that policy :rolleyes1

We bought ours in 2000. Nothing on ours at all about how long they are good for. We saved them because we thought we could use them again. If they were sold as free refills for life than I can't see them changing the policy to apply to those mugs bought before the policy change.

How would you like to buy a car with a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty and 6 months later the car manufacturer calls you and tells you they changed the warranty to 1 year and 10,000 miles? It isn't going to happen. Now if they change the policy, all cars sold after the policy change should be for 1 year and 1000 miles but you can't (or shouldn't) go back and change the policy for those who bought the car with a 10 year 10,000 mile warranty.

Half of mine, and I have about 15 of them, have the 'rule' written on them. My mugs from earlier visits do not have anything on them. When I bought them at DxL, I was told what a terrific buy they are if we plan to come back to DxL in the future. Now, by the time I got back there, in '01, it had changed to POR. Didn't bring them back anyway. Don't care who does. It really doesn't impact me one way or the other. I do have one from BCV that I might bring back with me in Nov...haven't decided yet. But, don't get me going on the whole 'pool-hopping' issue.....that does impact me!!!

Have to say the funniest thing I have seen in a food court was a lady and her kids at the refill station. They had those 'big gulp' type cups from a convenience type store that they were refilling. This lady kept looking around, quite nervously, looking over her shoulder...telling the kids to "Hurry up, nobody's around. do it quickly...we need to get out of here before they see us!!" Too funny. It's cases like those that I wish a CM would do something about..not those who bring back an AllStars mug to an AllSTars resort several years later.

Not once, and I have been to many Disney resorts many times with the refillable cups have I seen a cast member ever say anything to anyone....they want happy campers out there....soooooo....people will do what they want to do....and from a business standpoint the soda is the cheapest thing that Disney supplies....and probably the most profitable....

I'd expect the car manufacturer to live up to the legally enforceable terms of the written warranty.

I'd certainly expect Disney to do the same if you have anything in writing that's from Disney. The fact that you remember some CM telling you bring it back is hardly official Disney policy.

Disney is presently looking the other way but there isn't any reason to confuse a courtesy that's being extended to a legally enforceable right.

Right, because a $12 mug and an $18,000 car are oh so very comparable.

I still have a paper cup (you know the throwaway, one use kind you get when you order just one soda) from when I went in 1984 and I bring it back every year and refill it no matter what resort I am staying at.

Just kidding. Can't believe this topic still gets so much attention. For those you do use their old mugs, watch out for the mug police.

I've seen CMs at the Poly say stuff to people that try to fill up a mug from another resort. The guests really get ticked but it's obvious you are filling up at the Poly with a WL cup!

Wait..I have to go get the popcorn..another refillable mug thread that starts out..this is not a debate :rotfl:

Not a debate=mug refills..Oxymoron?

PS contracts do not have to be in writing..the best part is, most food court managers will readily admit their cm's told us to bring 'em back.

PSS there are 5 people on this board that will post they have seen people told no about reusing mugs vs 5,000 or so who have seen people refill with not only no problems, but encouragement :rotfl2: .

Ahhh, but I have also learned something on these 'non-debate' threads for refillable mugs....I didn't know that when I get a medium size dring at McD's I can go back to the drink station and refill my cup!! I always sipped slowly in order to have enough drink to last my entire meal. But, it was during a heated debate that I found that it was perfectly acceptable for me to refill at McD's!!! Who knew??!!
And yes, I do have a problem with those who go to, say...POR, and refill their Pop mugs. At least stay at the same resort. However, that being said, why in heavens' name do I have 5 POR mugs and 3 DxL mugs??? I just keep buying the darned things. :confused3
