Funny bus stories

We had an awsome experience with our bus driver...we were rgoing form DTD to the Poly...we get into the bus and there were a PACk of people wearing Mouse Ears...our bus driver makes the statement "There goes the Mickey Mouse Club. Aren't they cute..." We lost it! :rotfl:
We realized that he is probably not a Florida native...being from NY we figured we'd find out where he was from...when we asked he said Boston...figures us east coasters can be so...straight forward. He was a wealth of knowledge! and we tried to stump him with all sorts of questions...Like "what is the monthly bill for gas for Disney"-his reply was "there isnt one...they have their own farm." Leave it to Disney to have everything figured out!

This is a parking lot trolley story.

We were at MGM taking the trolley back to the parking lot. The sections all have names. Our driver pronounced "film" like "fill-um".

My family thinks this is hilarious. We are still talking about it.

Another bus from DAK story.

Not "funny" but "fun."

April 2005.
It was not quite 10am at DAK bus stops.
After "doing" a few attractions early at the DAK EMH, we decided, on the spur, we wanted to go to MK for some fun and then head to FtW for lunch at Trails End.
We decided we'd take "any bus" going to:

Grand Floridian
Poly
CR
TTC
just to get us near MK so we could monorail there.

We wait.
5 min.
10 min.
15 min.

NO buses to anyplace near the MK area.
(That time of day, it is always a bit "iffy" to get to another park. But I figured we could get someplace CLOSE.)
But all the incoming buses where just letting folks out at DAK at "random" queues, then changing their signs to some OTHER destination nowhere near MK. (sigh)
So DW walks over to the bus dispatcher/supervisor who, clipboard-in-hand,
is talking with a few drivers as they come by and then depart.

Supvsr. says, "How long have you been waiting?"
DW says, "15 min."
Supvsr. says, "Oh, one should be along shortly."

We wait for 5-6 more min.

Supvsr. looks at us (we are the only folks waiting in that stall) and says, "NEXT bus!"

So, next bus pulls in and it changes it's sign to say. "Coronado Springs" or some such.
Supvsr. motions to us as he walks to that bus.
He tells the driver something and motions us into that empty bus.

We sit down and the driver says, "Now WHERE exactly do you want to go?"

I say, "MK."

And the driver says, "Private bus service... Next stop, Magic Kingdom!"

And that's where we went!

I've got to say it was another great "Disney Experience!"

My favorite drivers are the ones that play with the kids. Not having kids of my own, watching other people's kids have a good time is fun for me. Anyway, we got on the POP bus after Wishes one night after waiting in a LONG line and everyone was really tired. The driver was so cool. He had a favorite ride contest-who loved Splash clap your hands! Who loved Buzz stomp your feet! Who loved Big Thunder say yee hah! Then, before he could say the next ride-this little guy says Who loved EVERYTHING-say YEAH!
So cute, everyone loved it and his parents were overjoyed after spending all that $$ to come there to know he really had a good time!

The other one that was cool was on the way to MK one day, the driver was giving us tips on how to get high scores on Buzz. He told us exactly what to aim for and what to ignore. Good advice too!

We had a really weird bus driver in February. She was an older lady with long red hair who talked like she'd been smoking marijuana all morning. She talked the entire time about all the shows and rides only she spoke really slowly. For example, as we drove by MGM she says "Theeeeere's the Tooooower of Terrrror. It's an elevator that takes you up and drops you a different way eeeeevery time. Coooooool riiiiiiiide." Sound familiar to anyone? DH and I went around saying "cooooool riiiiiide" for weeks after.

Our TRAM/Parking Lot story is from years ago at DLR (before DCA and there still WAS a DLR "open-ground" Parking Lot in that area).

Late at night, TRAM host is having fun with the tired guests.

He says,
"Next stop is sections BAMBI on the left, DOPEY on the right.
Now remember, its BAMBI on the left, DOPEY on the right.
BAMBI on the left, DOPEY on the right.
BAMBI on the left, DOPEY on the right.
BAMBI on the left, DOPEY on the right.
(He adopts a sleepy sound in his voice and gets softer and softer as he repeats it.)
BAMBI on the left, DOPEY on the right.
BAMBI on the left, DOPEY on the right.
bambi on the left, dopey on the right.
bambi on the left, dopey on the right... snore.

Tram comes to a stop.
Host "wakes up" and says,
"Any questions?"
"Yes, Maam, that's BAMBI on the left, DOPEY on the right."
:rotfl:

It was a great punctuation mark to another Disney Day!!

The Disney buses are great! I had a bus driver give me a recipe for chicken, he kept making me repeat it to make sure I remembered it! :sunny:

Our best story tho is my 5 year old DS was not feeling well, unbeknownst to us he had been bitten by a fire ant the day before and he was allergic (who knew!). We had been invited to "open" the Magic Kingdom and that was our day to arrive early. Unfortunately, he was beginning to get hives, swelling of his hands and feet and obviously felt terrible. So we went back to the bus stop to get back to the resort (like Pop or Boardwalk). Not many buses going back to the resorts at just after 8:00 a.m., but a Supervisor saw us almost right away and sent us our own private bus. Disney service at its best! :Pinkbounc

We ended up having to call 911 and take him to Celebration Hospital, 5 days on steriods and a new respect for bugs!

Our weird experience has nothing to do with the bus driver. We got on a bus one morning last Oct. heading for Epcot & started talking to a couple sitting opposite us. They were worse Disneyphiles than me! (Hope they are not Disboard members. )

They kept sharing info about Epcot & other parks that we didn't know. :thumbsup2 They then started talking about Renaissance Festivals they attended. Then they both took out a small case from their pocket & started messing with their teeth. When they grinned at us they had vampire teeth! Not the cheap vampire teeth like you get at Walmart at Halloween. These were custom made vampire teeth that cover the existing tooth & somehow was held on by suction or something. It was very different! DS talked about that for weeks!

I remember a trip after HDDR one very dark night in Sept. Someone asked the driver about the famous afternoon thunderstorms and he said something like "oh yes, they can spring up very suddenly" then he started flashing the lights inside the bus off and on and making thunder noises into his intercom. It was hysterical!

This is not as funny as just plain nice...we had reservations for the Magical Milestones tour at MK on our second day. The first day we arrived late (and the Magical Express bus driver got lost and had to look at a map to get us to CSR, but that's another story!) so we jumped a bus and went to Epcot till Magic Hours were over at midnight, got back to the resort about 1, and by 8 am were heading to the bus stop to go to Magic Kingdom for the tour. I saw the bus saying "Kingdom" and started running (overweight granny running for the bus probably made somebody's giggle for the day!). Hubby jogged along behind me, either trying to act like he wasn't with me (not that I can blame him) or knowing if I made, it they'd wait for him. The bus driver saw our mad dash and waited for us (then he said we didn't need to run, he'd have waited!). Off we go, all excited...right to ANIMAL Kingdom :) Oh, no. Supposed to be at MK by 8:45 and here we were, about 8:20 at AK.

Found the CM at the buses and told him I was old and blind and got on the wrong bus, and we had reservations for the tour at MK...and this nice man flagged down an incoming bus (empty) and the driver took us to Magic Kingdom in plenty of time for the tour. Those two cast members made my day...they went over the call of duty.

I love the buses...as someone else said, the drivers are full of tidbits and I enjoyed chatting with them as much as the other CMs we met.

Oh man, this thread brought up a hilarious memory from my childhood & it did happen on a Disney bus! We (me, Mom, Dad, 2 brothers and 1 sister) were staying at Ft. Wilderness waiting for our bus & realized that we needed more sunscreen. My Dad offers to pick some up at the little gift shop & then meet up with us at the MK. My sister goes with him & off the rest of us went. Then for some reason that I can't remember we drove around & then circled back by this same bus stop about 15 minutes later. We notice that my Dad is standing at the bus stop smoking :smokin: like a chimney when he supposedly had quit smoking! My sister is busy eating a HUGE bar of chocolate. We on the bus are all exclaiming "Look Mom - Dad is SMOKING!!! And no fair, Sarah gets candy!!" The other passengers start chuckling at this scene, and as my Dad gets on the bus he is exhaling a huge cloud of smoke right as he sees us - BUSTED!!! :rotfl2: Mom is giving him the death stare & quickly confiscates the "bribe" candy given to my sister. The bus driver and all the other passengers were laughing and we were too! :rotfl:

Disney bus drivers are the best. I've only had one bad experience in all my trips.

The funniest I can think of was several years ago when I was on a trip with my best friend. We had a few drinks at PI and waited and waited for a bus back to POR. Finally a bus came and asked us where we needed to go...when we told him he changed his sign and we got a private bus back. Very nice! THEN he sang American Pie with us all the way back. Funny. Good Disney moments for sure!

During one of our stays at All Star Movies Resort we had something funny happen to us on a busride back from Downtown Disney, late one evening. Our bus was full this night - first stop was All Star Sports, then All Star Music and then our final stop - All Star Movies. Hubby & I were the last few people off the bus when we noticed a man passed out & snoring on the bus with all of his shopping bags piled up around him! :rotfl:

We notified the bus driver & he ended up having to go back there & shake this man's shoulder to wake him up! LOL :rotfl2: Once he woke up he was all disoriented & had apparently missed his bus stop! So, the bus driver let him know that he would take him back to the right All Star Resort. :thumbsup2

I have similar to this.

DBF and I went to Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk until around 1am. To get back to POR that late, we decided we would catch the bus to DTD, then a bus from there to POR. When the bus pulls up, a bunch of people who had been enjoying their evening at DTD get off. DBF and I get on and we notice a young man passed out in a seat in the back. The bus driver starts calling to him over his intercom and, having a few drinks in me, myself, I decide I'll go back there and wake him up! Well it took a lot of shaking and "HEY GET UP"s for him to finally wake up and once he did he half opened his eyes, shook his head yes like he understood and waved to us as if saying "Thanks, but I'm good here!" So back to the shaking and, "No, you can't sleep here"s and he finally gets up and off the bus. The worst part? He had to run to catch up to his friends. Apparently they got off the bus as soon as it pulled up! Perhaps they had a few too many to even notice their friend was left behind.

We just returned on 8/12 from AKL. The driver we had (TWICE) from AKL to MK in the morning was ex-military. My money is on Marine or Army. One of the dads getting on the bus said something to the driver about whether it was shaping up to be a good day and the driver replied "By the grace of God, Sir!" I had this urge to salute, and I've never been in the military!

He stepped out of that bus, informed us that we would fill it back to front, and proceeded to monitor us as we CRAMMED ourselves into that vehicle. He walked alongside the bus, rapped on the windows, and told those folks to MOVE BACK!

Once we were packed in he got underway and made the announcement about not smoking, eating, or drinking alcoholic beverages. Good thing I don't drink at 7:30 AM! Then he said we were not to speak to the driver while the bus was in route. He would answer questions when we arrived at our destination.

DH and I are still laughing about it. :rotfl2:

After getting singled out at the Hoop-Dee-Doo for my toot-tooting on the Runaway Train song, we caught the bus back to the car park at Fort Wilderness from Pioneer Hall. Whilst talking, someone on the bus recognised my (distinctive) voice and shouted "Hey, it's John from the show" and got a huge cheer from the bus. When the driver turned the lights off I started singing Barry Manilows "One Voice" and the whole bus started to sing (you tend only to sing Barry Manilow songs when no-one can see you), it topped off a great night.

Lots of great memories from the tram crews at "chucking out time" at the parks too.

He wasn't the bus driver in the Bill Murray film "Quick Change" was he? ;)

Yes, that's the one!! I thought his name was Freddy but I couldn't remember for sure! Definitely not a fun & games sort of guy, is he? :rotfl:

I remember one summer night several years ago waiting for bus at one of the parks. The bus picked us up and then drove into the Mgm park. He was just hired and was learning the route. So he kept cirlcing the mgm parking lot. A big thunderstorm started just as opened the doors and as we left he said'You
are going to get wet!" . :goodvibes :rotfl2:
