I just got done laughing out loud over the Bassett Hound (in that thread) named "Hoover". If you've ever owned a hound, you'd know they should all be named after vacuums, the way that they will eat anything!

So what other cute/clever pet names are out there?

I was a little mean to my DH, and named our most recent hunting dog puppy "Bravo" so that when macho DH and all his studly friends are out in the woods trying to find him they'll have to shout, "Bravo, bravo" like they're at the theatre/opera....;)

Anyone else?

Terri

We have a feral cat who lived under our deck so we named her Deck'Ster

My two Westies are Lexi and Dexter. Otherwise known as Lex and Dex. My uncle had a dog named Nimrod. A Yankee and Steinfeld fan named his dog Seven, 7 for short

Usually, I name my animals human names. One exception was Chaos. It fit him. :cat:

I knew someone with dogs named Peanut and Buttercup.

When DD was in first grade she won a gold fish at the school carnival. She named it Fluffy.

My neighbor's girlfriend has 2 pugs named Mike & Sulley! Those aren't really funny names, but I thought The Dis would appreciate it!

I took care of a feral cat that lived in my garage. He was so wild, so I couldn't take him inside and tame him. He was an orange cat that I called Orangie, but I spelled it Oren-G, because I thought that seemed like a name with a lot of street cred for a street cat.

Someone on our street had 2 Jack Russells - he named them Jack and ... Russell.

My friend had 4 dogs at one time:
Monterrey (Monty for short)
Jack
Colby
Brie

She didn't start out with the intention of having cheese dogs, it just kind of happened.

Our cats are starship captains: Captain "Meow"colm Reynolds (Mal) and James Tiberious Kitten (Ty)

My sister's ex-in laws adopted a greyhound. He was brindle colored. So they named him "Brindle".

My husband and I are HUGE Simpsons fans, so we named our dog (who we had to put down this week...see my "when a pet dies" thread) MILHOUSE. We also have two barn cats who we named ITCHY and SCRATCHY.

We had a kitten with a white face except for a small black spot just below his nostril. We named him Booger. :rolleyes1

When it was time to find a home for him I got a call from a woman who wanted to come by to see him. Turns out she was a very old woman and ended up wanting him. When she was leaving she asked if he had a name. I was very hesitant to tell her but I did anyway. She started laughing and said 'ya know, I think I'll keep that'. :rotfl::rotfl:

Our Beagle/hound mix is named Butterbean. We got her from the shelter and she'd had the name all of 2/3 days but she was just so adorable it fit her!

Got a few...

When I was a kid, we had a dog named Diogee--sounds kind of Italian. But say it slow...Dee-oh-gee....D--O--G.

My son got a betta fish for his 3rd birthday. Named it Rock. Not sure why. But we then had Rock the fish for 3 1/2 years!

But my favorite, also from my childhood, was this poor little black kitten that my mom got from the town shelter. Poor thing only had three legs and no tail. Not sure what happened to it. But the little guy got around like any other cat and climbed and everything. We named him Skip. Yes, a 3-legged cat named Skip.

Our black Lab is Belle and her registered name is Ivanhoe's Certain as the Sun
Our rescue is Sweetie but I call her Shorty because she has a definite Napoleon complex!
Lilly's registered name is Ivanhoe's Silver Star 74 after DH's favorite football player.

Street cred, that's cute!! :rotfl2:

We had Jelly, the betta fish because he was the color of grape jelly. We also adopted Boo Boo, who I used to call Boo-bee. My goldfish when I was a kid were named after my friend's dad and mom, Dick and Janet. :lmao: I also adopted Lil Puss from a home that had many cats and she was to tiny the other cats picked on her.

ETA Dd's first hamster was named Chili Marshmallow (Last Name). She was about 13 when she got it so it wasn't like a little kid was naming it!!

We used to have two female cats called Billy and Beastly. Now we have a female dog named Olive. It's a perfect name for her and we've actually met another little puppy named Olive as well.
