>> Funniest Overheard Comments Part II <<

No matter what anyone tells you there isn't a big weather control center located in Cinderella's Castle!

Of course not, that would be silly... what with the whole park being inside a giant dome, and all. :rolleyes1

Not exactly at the parks but park related. I was talking to my mother-in-law, before we left for our last trip, about their previous two trips as a family, when my dh was younger. He had told me they rode hardly any of the rides. When I asked her about POTC she looked at me as if I had lost my mind (I've become very familiar with this look) and said "the movie just came out a few years ago W...we went over 18 years ago..." I tried exlaining that, contrary to what she thought, the movie POTC is a tribute to the ride, not vice versa. Of course, I have no idea what I'm talking about and all those many times I've ridden it since the '70's are in my imagination. :lmao::sad2:

Seriously, according to dh and his sister they rode maybe 5 rides. Are his parents blind or something?! they must have been walking around looking at the sky the entire visit. He swears there were no rides at Epcot back then either. :confused3

She did admit "...but we went in almost all the shops on the main street!".

Baffling...

I didn't think overhearing people would be so easy/fun! :lmao:

*On the bus to Epcot*
Teen daughter: What's the difference between Future World and World Showcase?
Father: The spelling.

*On the bus back from MK*
Daughter: My favorite ride was Splash Mountain.
Mother: I can't remember which one that is.
Daughter: It's the one with the big mountain.

*On Tower of Terror*
Bellhop: Make sure to take care of all your belongings, including jackets, cameras, and...(stares at little boy) your loved ones.
Little boy: *Cries*

:sad2: The people in my elevator didn't know whether to laugh or cry. We felt so bad! But his brother laughed about it later.

We also heard a lot of the typical stuff. On main street people asked where the castle was. Passing by TOT in the distance ladies would comment how they should have booked a room there because it's so beautiful.

We were on the boat from DHS to Epcot and a lady asked my sister about the world showcase. She had a map with her but was confused. My sis explained that we would enter in between France and the UK. :teacher: Then when we were entering the park, with the Eiffel Tower in plain view of her, the lady asked someone where France was.

Just got home yesterday! Earlier this week, we were riding the bus back to our resort (OKW) and were next to another family who was having quite an interesting conversation. First, the lady said "Tomorrow, we should ride Fast Track and Rock 'n RollerCoaster back to back because they are next to each other."

THEN, they were talking about why the t.v.'s say "Welcome Home" when you turn them on. The lady's answer was, "Well, they have antennas on top of every room and they use that to locate where your room key is and that's how they know where you are."

Was he British? Because that is what they call elevators across the pond..LOL so that might be what he meant :)

Yes he was British (Natcat and I are sisters and are familiar with that term) and that was the funny part...he thought that was the actual ride but it was just the room where they show The Twilight Zone video. We always see first-timers on ToT who think you are going to be standing up during the ride like in a real elevator/lift.

Wow... one of the only things I remember from Disney as a little kid was the prisoners trying to lure the dog with the bone.

Also, I think my parents rarely ever took us into shops, because my younger brother enjoyed grabbing everything off the shelves.

Disney related - We were at the Tower of London today, and I heard someone whistling the music from Disney's Robin Hood. I looked over, and there was a bored looking teenage girl, sitting on a bench, whistling away. It just struck me funny.

My uncle just came back from the world. I saw him over the weekend and found it funny that he kept referring to AK and Wild Kingdom. It had me chuckling.

My neice (who is 7) is coming to visit usin October.

I was talking to here the other day and finding out what parks she wanted todo while here...

And she said " Well,i want to do Sea World, AnimalKingdom, Epcot and then with all the excitement she could muster up.....then i really want to do WALT DISNEY WORLD"

I think she was refering to Magic Kingdom, but i didnt have the heart to explain it to her just yet.

Whenever I travel, there is always one person that asks, "Oh, do you live near a movie star?" because I live in California. The first time somebody asked me that, I thought they were just being silly, but I've had multiple people ask me in different places.
:confused3
And for the record, no, I don't live near a movie star.

Relating to the CA comment....

On the bus to AK, there was this lady sitting next to a girl, probably 11 or 12. The bus was packed, as usual, and the girl had been standing when a woman stood and let her sit down. So the lady she ended up next to started talking to her and asked, "So, where are you from?" The girl answered, "Oh, I'm from California."

The woman said, "REALLY?!?" then very excitedly turned to her daughter and said, "Honey, look! This girl's from California!!" :rotfl:

Another comment that wasn't particularly funny but made me chuckle...

We were riding POTC and were about mid-way through the ride when suddenly we saw this huge flash at the front of our boat. Suddenly, the pirate music stopped and a CM came over the intercom and said, "Flash photography is not allowed. Please turn off your flash." Some woman in the front said, "I KNOW, I know..."

We're going to WDW for the first time in September, and since we have two little girls, we asked my MIL if she would like to come with us to help watch them/take them for naps/do potty breaks, etc., and, of course, ride things with us and have fun watching the girls have fun!

She's never been, either, but has always wanted to go. She said, "I'll take time off work and go, and I don't mind missing out on any of the rides if the girls need me to, just as long as I get to ride Body Wars...I've always wanted to ride Body Wars, and I'm not missing that!":rolleyes1Uhm, I hate to tell you, you're a couple years too late!

Don't worry, she's still going, but she's pouting about that one!!! :rotfl:

Last year on the Disney Wonder, we took a glass bottom boat tour in the Bahamas. We had just stopped at our first viewing area, when I heard a woman say to her kids, "Look, boys, fish sticks!"

We rode Mission Space for the first time in 2004. It was one of those things I hated and loved and vowed would never do again. We rode again in 2006. My husband, myself and a friend of our daughter's who was 14. We were debating which version we would ride and when we got to the front of the line decided to "go for it" and rode the original one. when we were finished my husband asked me what did I think? My reply was,"my cheeks hurt and I cried the whole time but it wasn't as bad as I remembered it" :lmao: He still quotes me.

We were waiting for Haunted Mansion and were in the stretching room. There was a little boy being held by his Mom who couldn't have been more than 3 years old. Next thing he lets out with, "They're going to kill us!!" I burst out laughing. The poor thing was so serious. Walking onto the ride he kept saying "We're all going to die!!!!" Funny thing was, he didn't really seem afraid, it was just more matter of fact.

The funniest thing I ever heard? It was also the loudest thing... I was settling for a nice showing of Voyage of the Little Mermaid and when Ursula comes out to do her thing, this child behind me starts screaming "IT'S THE DEVIL!!!!" And then proceeded to unleash the most unholy howls I have ever heard. :scared1: This continued as a backing track to the whole "poor unfortunate souls" segment, and then the father took her outside.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: How old was she? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Cute/Funny:

Little girl about 3 or 4 while waiting for the tram to the Magic Kingdom: "I have to get on the train to go to Disneyland!" She was so excited.

Strange/Funny:

Woman #1: "What is Big Thunder Mountain?"
Woman #2: *points to Splash Mountain* "Big Thunder Mountain is this."
