Fun tidbit from cleaning out my files today. Found our invoice from our first DCL cruise in 2014. We sailed Thanksgiving week on the Dream (4 nights) as a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) in a Concierge Family Oceanview room. Total cost was $4704.88. The inflation calculator tells me this would be the equivalent of about $6400 today. I think we all know it would be nearly impossible to get a concierge room on any Disney ship during a holiday week for 4 for $6500!!!

My wife and I did our first seven day Disney cruise on the Magic back in 2001. We thought since we were DVC members we would use points and back then it was a good deal to use points for us.
Just about every Disney vacation we have done since 1990 I have all the paperwork however for the life of me I cant find how many points it cost us for the cruises

In total we have done fourteen, seven day cruises. Of these, six we used points.

Over the years we have done several Guaranteed/ Florida resident rates.
In 2022 we did a seven day, guaranteed ocean view. We ended up in a veranda and the cost was around $2800 for the two of us.

Wow, you got bargains. Our 7 day cruise for 4 over New Years 2003-04 in an Oceanview stateroom was $9,000, most expensive cruise in 45 years of cruising. But it was a peak peak peak week. We did get a free upgrade to a Verandah stateroom, no idea why, Disney called our Travel Agent 10 days before our cruise and said we had been moved to a different stateroom. We booked a specific stateroom, not GTY.
Getting ready to take a Princess cruise 7 days, with a 7 day land package before, this cruise will be more expensive per person. Travel insurance from Disney in 2003 was $125. Travel insurance for the Princess trip, $1,200. Covid really caused travel insurance rates to soar. I took a Celebrity cruise in 2019, and their top of the line travel insurance was on promo for $25 per person.

Our biggest problem was that was our first DCL cruise and fell in love with Concierge (love how quiet it seems v many other parts of the ship!). So we have only sailed Concierge since (4 additional times) but the prices are now SO high, much higher than the inflation numbers equate to. I know they have added some services but it shows you the demand has increased for the Concierge product.

I’ve pretty much hit the WOW emojis on all of these. Looking at specifically the concierge rates that were just released is mind blowing

2018 Western Transatlantic, about a week after opening day pricing, 2 adults, lowest category inside cabin: $2600.
After covid, everything skyrocketed.

I just got an email about 40% off sailings this fall which surprised me. Maybe they hit the ceiling?

40% discount this fall
It is interesting because none of those discounts ever apply to Concierge and that product continues to skyrocket so they must be getting the numbers they need there. Especially with the Dream recently adding more Concierge rooms and expanding the lounge.

Our first cruise was a 4 night Van to San Diego (stopping in Victoria) at the end of September 2015. It was $1800 for 4 of us in a standard inside. Next September in a standard inside for 4, the 4 night Magic is $2854 (no stops) and $3500+ for the 5 night Wonder that stops in Victoria.

Booked a May 2011 11 night Mediterranean on the Magic 6 months out for...$1542 pp. By 2014 we were up to $1969 for a 9 nighter. These were standard inside cabins. Dearly loved both of these trips but the current Med costs are eye-watering!

I recently came across the invoice from my first Disney Cruise, October 2000...4/3 night land/sea package, staying at Dixie Landings, and a category 11 on the Wonder (5013). This was for 2 adults, a 3 year old and an 8 month old(he is actually listed as TBA as he wasn't born when we booked), Total cost for the package, airfare, and transfers was $2849.00. If only!

Anyone able to take advantage of the 40% off today?
Interesting thing about that 40%...

We had a 3-night cruise in December 2025 which we switched to a September 2025 4-night cruise when Disney offered 30% off plus $250 shipboard credit for DVC members. With shipboard credit, the 4-night cruise ended up costing less than the 3-night cruise.

I looked at how much we had booked that 3-night cruise in December 2025 for: $2505 including a 10% bounce back offer. For this price, we got to pick our stateroom which was midship on Deck 9 (not the deck immediately below the pool deck). Exclude the 10% bounce back and it was $2783. 40% off of $2783 would be $1670.

That same cruise today with the discount rate?: $2654, and they pick the stateroom.

Makes me wonder if Disney first raised prices to advertise the 40% discount.
