Fun Things to do at home on Thanksgiving

Hi everyone. For the first time in many years we are spending Thanksgiving home, just hubby and the kids! I want to make it a special day...any ideas what we can do to make it special and fun for the kids? My kids are 7, 4, and 15 months. Thanks so much!

We always make hand print turkeys. You make 5 prints of your child's hand in a semi-circle on a piece of paper. Then make a print of their foot upside down in the center of the hand prints and it looks like feathers with the turkey body in the middle.

Growing up, we always put our tree up on that Friday. When we sat down for Thanksgiving dinner, we each found a small package by our plate: a new ornament for the tree the next day! She was always sure to tell us it was her gift to us because she was thankful to have us.

You could make placemats. Foam or paper.

You could get a wide photo mat and do hand prints on it. Then use it to mat a future holiday picture of the kids.

I have no advice for you but I have my in-laws coming. After a long day, I love to play "kick the in-laws out of the house". It's my favorite part of the holiday.

We like to get up and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade together. My boys are 14 and 11 and they have always loved the parade. We also get some special breakfast items that we don't often have (cinnamon rolls, bacon, donuts, etc.). Then we eat no lunch or very little lunch so we're ready for dinner. We are going to my parents house for dinner (about 15 minutes away) but we'll spend the first part of the day at home.
