Fun, Sun, and Mickey Mouse! An August 2009 TR...new 11/19 p. 34

I'm all caught up. I love the night shot of ToT. I hate that last night, too, when you watch everyone having a great time & you know you have to go home the next day. What's even worse for me is when you're leaving the hotel with your luggage & you see people just arriving with their luggage. :sad1:

Ohh I totally agree with you there! Then you think back to when you were just checking in and it reminds you how fast your trip went bye!

Hey guys!

So sorry this is taking me so long to wrap up. I've been pretty busy with school/work and other stuff. Last night was the first basketball game of the season so that was fun. My life for the next five months has now officially started, LOL. Hopefully going to all the games will help pass the time until our trip in April! It's really going to kill me when they are playing in that tournament in Disney World and I'm not there. :sad2: Oh well.

Anyways, thanks for sticking with me and I am going to try to finally finish this TR for real sometime this weekend.

:wave2:

I'm sad your report is almost done :sad1: What a bummer that you went all they way to DHS and the meet didn't work out. At least it seems like a nice night. I missed that you started at pre-trip report - I'm heading over!

I know, it was a bummer but stuff happens. It would've been nice if we had another day we could've met up but our trip was too short. LOL.

Now it's time to say good-bye...

Just like always, our departure day came around all too soon. Our flight back home was around noon-ish so that meant the Magical Express would be picking us up around 8:30 or 9 (I can't remember). We ate breakfast and checked our room one last time to make sure we had everything all packed up. We also watched Stacey for a few minutes before heading out to wait for the bus. Out at the bus stop Emma and I snapped a few last shots of the resort:

Good-bye, not-so-free-roaming buffaloes!

While we were waiting I'd see families heading to their cars getting ready for their days. It made me so jealous. Couldn't we just stay a little bit longer? :sad1: Right on time our bus came to take us back to the airport. I think we only had to stop at the Grand Floridian to pick up some more people before going to Orlando International. On the bus I pulled out my ipod and tried playing a game on there to try to distract myself. I really really hate leaving Disney...I'm such a sap. Our driver also played Disney music which kind of bummed me out. A lot of it was theme park songs so of course it made me think of all the rides and stuff. :sad2: And finally the video came on. It's sort of fun watching it and seeing all the different holidays/festivals and thinking how lucky we've been to get to experience so many of those, like MNSSHP and MVMCP. But I pretty much lose it when Mickey and all his friends start singing "Now it's time to say good-bye..." OK, I don't really lose it but it's really sad knowing our trip is really over. So depressing!

Then before we knew it we were at the airport. I do have to say I enjoyed our bus driver. He was really nice and kept saying how he hopes everyone comes back to visit again soon. Of course we will!

With plenty of time to spare we were able to get checked in and grab something to eat. At our gate we could see where all the buses would come in so we saw a ton of ME buses coming and going. (you can't really tell too much from the picture).

When our plane arrived I got jealous again of all the people getting off who were just starting their vacations (even if they weren't all going to Disney World). Grrrr. Oh well. Our flight home was on time and pretty uneventful. Back in Milwaukee Mom and Claire came to pick us up so we started telling them about our trip right away. As usual we had nothing bad to say. Lots of fun times and great new experiences.

Until next time...

up next: final thoughts and souvenirs! :)

I so hate the final day. It is depressing!

My family teases me because as we leave our resort for the last time I see people just arriving and ask myself out loud, "I wonder how long they're staying? I wonder if they got free dining." :lmao: Meanwhile, my entire family is staring at me like I've totally lost it!

Sounds like a good flight back even though the morning seemed a little sad for you. Looking forward to the final thoughts.

Aww the end :(

At least you're going again pretty soon so you can start all over! :thumbsup2

Blah, the endings of trips are so depressing! What makes the ending of our trips even worse is that there's a 19-hour drive ahead of us! I think that there should be some sort of tradition for the return trip home. For example, if there are 2 of you on the trip, you should buy the other person a little souvenir that can only be opened when you're at the airport or on the plane or in the car! That way there's something to look forward to or at least make the day a little sweeter.

I'm dreading the end of the April vacation, and we're still only in November!

I know the last day is so sad. I'm almost glad our flight was so early in the am (8:15 - so ME was 5:15) because I was almost too tired to really think about it.

The last morning is always a bummer but atleast we're going back!

Yep, it's finally the end. :sad1:

That's right, and I've got my PTR started too to keep me occupied. haha

Ooh, I don't know if I could handle a 19-hour drive home. I like your idea though about getting each other souvenirs. :thumbsup2

haha, I know what you mean!

Wow, 5:15 for ME, that's crazy! We're usually up by that time for our flights but that's when we're going there, not coming home (so it's a bit more exciting!).

I can't believe it's over.:sad2: It's so depressing to leave and seeing the Disney video on the bus always makes me sad, especially when they sing "Now, it's time to say goodbye..." Aww...it gets me every time....but on the other hand it makes me more determined to find a way to go back again.

Looking forward to your final thoughts.popcorn::

I totally understand your frame of mind. I absolutely hate walking out of the Magic Kingdom for the last time. Checking out of the resort is sad. Driving away and looking at the WDW archway.........I gotta go blow my nose!:sad1:

Look forward to your final thoughts.

Glad I'm not the only one who gets sad watching that video.

Stay tuned for the final thoughts...

Yeah, it was making me sad even just writing the ending! :sad2::rolleyes: Ugggghhhh I just hate it.

Final Thoughts...

Alright let's wrap up this TR. As I mentioned in my introduction, this was my 15th trip to Disney World but it was also a trip of firsts for us. For starters, it was our first time visiting Disney over the summer. I have to admit I was a little worried about going in August--we all swore we'd never go to WDW during the summer. I knew it was going to be hot but wasn't sure exactly HOW hot it would get. Yes, at times it was really hot and it got annoying being sweaty but overall it wasn't that unbearable. No matter when we go, we always go back to the resort mid-afternoon for a break and I think if I could give one piece of advice to anyone planning a summer trip is to TAKE A BREAK. It was nice to cool off at the pool or just chill out in the air conditioning for a bit. Would I go again over the summer? Yes. And being on a teacher's schedule it's just another option instead of going over holiday breaks.

It was also our first time staying at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. On previous trips we had gone over there just to see what it was like but it was so neat actually getting to stay there. Great location, great theming, great resort. One of my favorite things about staying at VWL was getting to see the Electrical Water Pageant out on the beach. That was a fun way to end the day. I know some people tend to stay at the same resort over and over (heck, we used to do that at the Polynesian) but I love getting to try all the different resorts. If you've never stayed there before, it's totally worth going over there just to see it. Loved it!

Some other highlights of this trip:
:wizard: Getting to see the American Idol Experience...twice.
Being AI junkies we were really looking forward to this show and it definitely didn't disappoint. We got a kick out of how it really was like the real show and we especially enjoyed seeing the finale. I look forward to seeing it again in April!

:wizard: NO RAIN!!
OK so that's not exactly true but fortunately we really didn't see too much rain. And there were no hurricanes.

:wizard: Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure
I know my sister didn't really enjoy this all that much but I thought it was a lot of fun (even being 24!). It's pretty cool how they've incorporated all the little secrets into the pavilions. This is something else I can't wait to do again. :thumbsup2

Before I end this I also have to share my souvenirs. What trip to Disney is complete without bringing home some of the magic?

A few more pins to add to my collection and an Animal Kingdom pen (something actually useful). A new resort=a new pin and I had to get one for one of my new favorite attractions. The other one I just liked. haha

My two vinylmation figurines. Totally pointless but so fun.
100_5111.jpg

World's cutest tote bag...as if I needed another purse. Atleast it has Mickey on it. :)

I guess that's about it. As usual we had a great time and it was fun sharing our trip with you. Thanks to everyone who stuck with me throughout my report and commented. :) If you're curious to see where our next Disney adventure will take us, feel free to join in on my new PTR. I know some of you have already posted but I'd love to have some more readers. ;)
