As part of a post in another thread Greenban was talking about calls he'd made to MS

Greenban said:
All three said that the next DVC has infact been announced to them.

"Everyone is gonna be suprised!" was the direct quoted response each gave when pressed.

And no, they would not even give me a hint.

So what would you find truly "surprising" (good or bad) for a new DVC resort?

Some ideas:

POP Century Villas - the Great Depression Years

Atlantean Villas - undersea resort off shore of Castaway Cay

Have fun with your ideas...

Well, my 3 guesses (in order) are:

1) EP....the "surprise" being that speculation on this board and others was pretty certain that it would be the Contemporary.

2) DL...I just don't know where. Maybe converting part of Paradise Pier into a DVC.

3) An offsite such as Hawaii.

I do feel that if the news is "surprising", it probably means that the Contemp is out of the running.

Beca

Disney's Yacht Club Villas

SSR II with a new Disney character to go along with it.

The new character (per my exclusive sources at MS ;)) is none other than Rinkwide. Yep, I got the scoop and the news. Rinkwide will stand outside SSR II and point everyone toward BCV.

I don't think so, especially when you consider the way DVC chooses to implement words like "secret".

1. Resurrecting one of the original resort themes never constructed and converting it into a DVC. There were five resorts in the original master plan: Contemporary, Polynesian, Asian, Persian and Venetian. The first two were built and the other three shelved. Disney has a history of pulling old ideas off of the shelf when the timing or ability to execute are better. Still it would be a "surprise" to see one of these return as a DVC somewhere on the monorail line.

2. DVC at AKL: Surprise because, even though it is often talked about here, it would be such an expensive concept to develop and operate. But just think what the imagineers could do if given a green light and a proper budget.

3. DL: I think it would be great, but where? They have tremendous footprint limitations. Maybe on the land they own near by where the third gate has been rumored. Also would additional resort space make sense with the combined turnstile counts at the current gates?

I still believe the next DVC will be at DL. One other idea I've been thinking of is a DVC cruise ship, yes, an entire ship. That would really be a surprise. ;)

Central Indiana.....

Hey, at least it'd be close to home... :thumbsup2

Of course, they would have to build a theme park to go with it. :teeth:

Which is on line with All Stars "Members Only". Wouldn't it be something. A whole hall of pics: Chuck S, Caskbill, Greenban, Rinkwide, Diane, Vascubaguy......

If they went with DL, could they refurbish part of DGC to make it into Villas, in decor sort of like the VWL (although those were added on)? If so, that's my first prediction. My second, which I'd love to see, is another off-WDW resort, probably in one of the destinations that Disney has explored (didn't they have some vacations offered? I'll bet those were "scouting" trips). From what I've seen of the size of SSR, I'd be really surprised if DVC thought they could support another on-property resort this soon.

I'm going to say that there will be two resorts going up at the same time. One at WDW and the other at DLR.

The one at WDW will be on the site of the STOL site. It will be attached to the EPCOT monorail and will provide monorail service to EPCOT and the TTC. The resort will be themed after the Mediterranean. (Disney's Mediterranean Resort - A DVC Resort).

The reason I've picked this site and resort is because Disney had plans to actually build this resort back in the early 90s at the Southeast corner of the Seven Seas Lagoon. As a previous poster said Disney has a habit of pulling old ideas off the shelf when the time is right.

Happy Speculating!

I'm going with EP because of the size of resort they could build and associated economic advantages.

I think somewhere on the monorail would be the most attractive, but I don't know whether they could build something big enough to make it worthwhile.

I've been doing some research, and I think I've got this one figured out. If you look at all the satellite photos, you can see the one spot there there is a ton of "secret" construction going on. It's the old 20,000 Leagues spot in the MK.

Yes, the next DVC will be *in* the MK itself. How cool is that. That's also what the whole Dreams sweepstakes is all about. They want to practice having guests in the park at night.

I was in DL recently, and I have to place my vote there. There were "Best Kept Secret" signs EVERYWHERE and, of course, DVC just opened their first office there. Why would they do all of that just to sell another resort in Florida? Nope...they are signing members from CA b/c that is where the next DVC will be.

The issue is the word "surprise." There have been rumors about a DL DVC for a while now, so it might not be much of a surprise. However, there have been more rumors about the Contemporary than anywhere else, so that may come into play.

As far as "fun" thoughts about the next DVC...definitely an "Under the Sea" theme at Castaway Cay...lol...or wait no....not at CC, but IN the Seven Seas Lagoon! I can hear the steel drums now...

...or maybe the Villas at Coronado Springs...and the buildings would be shaped like Aztec pyramids. Yup, that's a studio way up at the top point...and no elevator.

Here's a thought... What if the suprise is that they will announce mulitple DVC resorts at one time? DL, CR, Hawaii, STOL ??

I think the surprise will be Cool Cat Villas in Alaska. Because of the location, Adventure (value) season would be six months out of the year.

Funny I saw the multiple resort rumor elsewhere... Contemporary as a transitional resort and STOL as the next biggie.

VOIS (Villas Out In Space).

Buses will take you from BCV to Cape Canaveral, where you will be launched into Space. Of course some DVCers will still complain that they didn't get a room with a good enough view... :sunny:
