Fun poll: If something falls on the floor..WWYD?

Would you eat it anyway?

  • Yes, but only if I immediately picked it up

  • Yes, but only if it was a dry food (not a porous, wet food like shrimp)

  • Always, I wouldn't want to waste money

  • Nope, never, how gross!

  • Depends on how recently I (or my SO) washed the floors

  • Other- I plead the fifth!

So, you are grabbing a cookie from the cookie jar (or whatever) and it falls on the floor. Do you call, "Five second rule" pick up it, eat it anyway, thinking you probably won't die from the germs?

Or do think, ewww...gross..toss it.

Just wondering what the norm is! :cool1: Poll coming!

We have two dogs. If something falls on the floor, you should watch your fingers trying to grab it. I usually just jump out of the way unless it is onion or something else the dogs shouldn't eat. I don't eat food off the floor unless it can be washed again like an apple.

I voted that it depends. Usually, if it's not to hairy I'll eat it. Of course, I also walk around barefoot in hotel rooms and use the comforter and remote control without doing CSI tests on it, so what do I know?

Depends....if it's something yummy, as long as the kids don't catch me, it's fair game. :rolleyes1

I have no problem picking it up and eat it. One time DS5 was about 2 he came out of his room eating a cinnamon roll, I made rolls 2 weeks before. He is still alive. He said it was still good, just had to chew on it! I guess if it wasnt furry or starting to fight back its eatable.

My Mom was from the country -- she is 88. She always said you have to "eat a peck of dirt before you die".

My mom says the same, lol:thumbsup2

I honestly never thought about eating something that fell on the floor until DD arrived in our world. She throws ALL her food on the floor now. Thus we are also sweeping/washing the floors multiple times a day so I pick it up and give it right back to her :rotfl:

At home I would probably eat it. In public, probably not, you don't know how clean their floors are.

What amazes me is the amount of people that give their infants their keys to play with. It you won't eat something that has hit the floor, why in the world would you let you infant teethe on your dirty keys.

Or the pacifier (or bottle) drops on the floor; they wipe it on their shirt and give it back.

Oh no, never gave the kids the keys to teethe on. If the pacifier hit the floor and we were having a necessary pacifier moment I put it in my mouth and cleaned it before giving it back to the baby.:)

I've seen that a few times. Especially on airplanes. The kid's toy gets thrown on the floor or out in the aisle and they just give it back to them. You know how dirty planes are. One time a pacifier flew back 2 rows and landed on someone's lap!

omg, I used to do this too!!!!!!:lmao:

I voted yes, but only if immediately picked up.

I would even do it with shrimp if it was dropped on the kitchen floor. A quick rinse and it would be fine. I ain't gonna waste a good shrimp!!! :rotfl:

It depends on the floor. Out in a very public place, probably will pitch it. If it happened at home, a friend's home, or my work, I would probably eat it!

I jokingly say, "What doesn't kill, makes you stronger"!!!

assuming clean floors(my home or close friends) 5 second rule for most things. a cookie gets extra time while brocolli gets .005sec.

If it were my own house I would because I know that my floors are clean, at other places NO.
