Going in Nov for a mini-family reunion :thumbsup2, including our DD#1 and her DH from CA, our DS will come from school in SC , and our DSIL's family as well!! :thumbsup2

So our group will be 12 - 14 or so, ranging from 13 - 50 something.

Any fun dinners to do with a large group? Our 180 days is coming up in May so planning is really kicking in now!

I am thinking if we "get together" once a day or so so connect it would be nice.

Anyone do the MK fireworks dessert party with a large group?

TIA!

We have done a couple of Grand Gatherings and here are some of the things we liked:

Biergarten @ Germany
Rose & Crown for dinner @ United Kingdom - if you have a 7:45 or later dinner reservation when it is time for Illuminations they bring you out to the patio to watch
Crystal Palace for an early breakfast - you get to walk down Main Street without a whole crowd of people and that is nice
'Ohana for dinner - when it is time for the Magic Kingdom fireworks the music comes over the sound system and you can watch from the dining room windows

Happy Planning!

We've done 2 large group vacations, once with 11 and once with 16 (no real young children).

Although food is iffy, everyone had a blast at WCC. We also enjoyed Boma.

Some places may not seat you all together. We were not seated together at Sci Fi, Coral Reef, Crystal Palace.

Another one we enjoyed was Cape May character breakfast. We had a long table in the back corner and it was quieter than any of the other character meals we did.

50's Prime Time. As PP stated, you may not be seated together. I think it is parties over 6 that get this disclaimer.

Well, the disclaimer of "you may be separated" appears on every ADR (even 1 person ADRs :rotfl: ) but it usually only happens to parties of 6+. However, we've gone as a party of 10 before and not been split up ever.

Anyway, Biergarten was my first thought, and Teppan Edo was a thought too although the tables only hold 8 (?) maybe 10--either way you'd be split up though.

HDDR is a lot of fun plus good food.

There are always large groups at 'Ohana and they always seem to be having the most fun. OP, what school here in SC does your son attend (I'm familiar with just about all of them). lol

We always travel with large groups from 8-20 people. The hands-down best experience we've had is at 'Ohana. They really know how to handle large groups: no menu to order from, food served family-style, eat all you care to eat, great dessert, fireworks during dinner, entertainment for the kids, great mixed drinks (see my signature!) and they make a big deal about celebrations. We've been once with just our family of 4 and it just wasn't the same.

Other good experiences for our large groups:

Teppan Edo--8 of us filled up our own table...it was like having a private party just for us.

Cape May Seafood Buffet--with 20 people with all those different likes and dislikes, there was something here to please everyone.

Hi there, he will be in his third year at The Citadel...he has really enjoyed it so far this year! Knob year was a little long...but he did fine.

Thanks to all for the reminders on getting separated. To those with large groups have you been next to each other?

WCC is one of our favs! Not all of us have ben there before so I am thinking that is a definite!

The Citadel ... good for him (and for toughing out that first year)! My DD is just finishing her sophomore year at the Univ. of South Carolina.

My favorites are Grand Gathering events. We love the Good Morning breakfast in MK, and the Safari Dinner in AK.

I would do either one of them again in a heartbeat but we are the only ones in the family that keep going back year after year :)
