Fun New Year's Eve Resort Activities?

Hi all,
We're going to WDW from Jan. 1-6 (BWV) and are considering staying at a WDW resort on Dec. 31, since we'll be getting into Orlando that evening anyway (it's either stay near the airport and then come to WDW on the 1st, or go to WDW on the 31st and then change resorts on the 1st). Does anyone know if any of the resorts have fun/interesting New Year's Eve activities? We thought about going into one of the parks, but we'll be getting there late that day and don't want to use up one of our hopper days for such a short time on the 31st.

Any ideas??
Thanks!!

Last year the Boardwalk Inn had a party on the Village Green (lawn). They had a DJ and passed out party favors. At midnight we could see the fireworks from both Epcot and MGM.

Micky Magic,
That sounds like fun! We'll be staying at BWV starting on Jan. 1.....still contemplating staying on site Dec. 31 after a late afternoon/evening flight(probably a value due to cost), but we'd be able to get around to other resorts to enjoy some fun.

I'm also considering making late dinner reservations at Ohana and watching MK fireworks from there--my DD8 (turning 9 Jan. 2) would love that!

Better make those room reservations post haste for 12/31.... I would not be suprised if a lot of places were sold out already (or if they would not make 1 night reservations for NY eve).

When we've been in WDW resorts for NYE, any "happenings" weren't announced until the day of 12/31.

I imagine it is to cut down on lots of people staying in one resort or another (WDW or not) from reading about the events and stopping in to enjoy the events to the detriment of paying guests of that particular resort. You'll probably find out that day what is going on in your resort that night. :flower:

Happy planning! :cool1:

Thanks everyone!

SB, I'm hoping to make that reservation this week, if I get a chance to have five minutes to talk it over with my DH! :smooth: Actually, the WDW website doesn't show availability, but Travelocity does, for just about every resort!

Interesting that they don't announce party plans at resorts until that day, but it makes sense that they wouldn't want people just popping by to reap free stuff and activities.

Hope everyone's having a good one, and thanks for the responses!

I obviously do not have enough to do today...because I just spent 15 minutes looking up resort availability for NYE (1 night stays in the least expensive room available at each resort)....and I am not even going (cheap dreams I guess!!)

Here is all that is available at the moment:

Values - only the AS Music at $134

Moderates - only CSR and CBR at $233

Deluxes had more availability, but when I saw the prices I know why (gasp)!!
AKL at $396 (pool view)
BC/YC/BW all at $511 (standard view)
CR (tower only avail) at $546
Poly (garden view) at $540
WL (courtyard) at $440

DVC's BWV at $657 (1BR)
OKW and SSR at $422 (studios)
VWL at $500 (studio)
BCV (2BR) at $1160

nothing at GF or Ft Wilderness or the other values or moderates.

SB--did you check travelocity? Yesterday, all were available, including all values (at $119). Hmm.. I'd better get on that website again!! Thanks for the update!

I did not look at Travelocity....I got those prices from the WDW web (and they included tax....so I think that is the price diff from Travelocity)...I looked at expedia and they had a 3 night minimum booking it looked like for those dates...so I went to WDW.

I have found travelocity showing availability on reservations in the past until you try and book through them and then you get a message that it won't go through

I had fun looking anyways!! Wish I was going to be there for NY eve!!

The Dolphin has an "internet only" rate of $319 that night... only downside is it is fully-prepaid, non-refundable, but that's $200 cheaper than the other Epcot resorts. We've been at the Dolphin for the last 3 NYEs in a row and loved it every time. They have some nice dinner/party packages... we went over to Epcot last year at around 10:30 p.m. and stayed for the midnight fireworks - wow, totally spectacular.
