Does anyone have any ideas for a fun, special activity that I could do with my 8 year old daughter on a Sat. night at WDW? My DH and DS19 will be going to Pleasure Island so I would like to have a special evening with my DD. This will be in early June. Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

there are a couple of things that you could do - how about a boat ride from your resort to another or downtown disney - we were there in october & my daughter had fun just going to another resort to check it out and look in the stores - they always want to see new things -

or another thing is to find a resort w/the electrical water parade - our favorite place to see it is at the wilderness lodge - but you may want to find another place - you can get a drink & a snack (cinnamon buns were always a favorite for my daughter)

but anything you do together will be fun for both of you because it's at disney and you're together

What about the outdoor movie and campfire with Chip and Dale at Fort Wilderness. There is no cost unless you want to buy stuff to make smores! My girls enjoyed it when they were little.

Sounds like fun - my girls are 7 and 9 so let me see....

If it were a non park day I would either do a princess dinner at 1900 PF and stay to watch the fireworks at MK and the EWP at GF. Or if she is into Mickey vs the princesses like my 7yo probably Chef Mickeys and then the same MK fireworks and EWP. Both are a bit $$

The campfire, petting zoo and EWP at FT wilderness would be a great idea as well.

DTD - maybe you could all do dinner together, maybe RFC and then split up, you and dd do some shopping and fun at DTD and DH and DS do PI?

The boardwalk is fun, my girls got a hairbraid and face paint and then we had a yummy pizza at spoodles. (FWIW they also love ESPN club??? - ok mabye I am a sports fan and it rubbed off?)
Lots of arcade games and some street performers depending on the night of the week.

My girls would also love a trip to the animal kingdom lodge, either the food court mara or the buffet restaruant boma are terrific, esp if your dd' has a "spirited" appetite. The animal viewing is terrific and the CM's tell stories and have activities for kids.

If its a park day my girls and I love an evening at Epcot - we would do the entertainment at WS, acrobats and Off Kilter would be great. Maybe try and get a R&C outside patio seat if your dd likes the menu- you could watch illumintations from one of the best and most convenient viewing areas! My girls love doing nighttime at WS, the hopscotch in UK, making a mask and seeing the fireworks, it may just be the atmosphere?

If the parks are open a bit later and you have a day on a ph or have gone to a park that day maybe do a girls favorite park/ride day? Perhaps a character dinner at MK that dh and ds aren't interested in and and extra trip around fantasylandet al?

Whatever you do I am sure it will be wonderful..

i think that the princess dinner would be perfect. If she's not into the princesses, choose a fancy grown up type resturant and get all dresses up for the girls night out. Maybe a little shopping after dinner would be fun too. The GF to me is just a perfect place for the girls.

(no girls to have a girls night with:( )

((well hehe, i am 14, so maybe i could help))

Character dinners were big things with me when I was 8, so try eating at one of the many. The most popular is Chief Mickey's.

The Boarwalk is a great idea. (whoever posted that read my mind* they have so many different shops, plus there is Seashore Sweets, the beset candy store ever!!!

Downtown Disney has many cool store, from the big disney store itself to the awesome lego store! *kids of all ages can play with some of the kits outside, and build cars and race them with each other, very fun* Also, in DTD, there is the rainforest cafe *also located in Animal Kingdom* a very, how to put it, different resturant.

Also, check for parades, and super special E-Nights, where the parks stays open late. Not sure how to find out those. ^_^

Hope that helped!

I appreciate all of the tips. I think that we may try the GF Princess Dinner, fire works, and water parade. We will be going to Chef Mickey's for a breakfast and my DD loves the princesses. She loves to dress up and have fancy nights out. I have definitely raised a princess :). Hopefully we will be going back to CRT for breakfast also. We have never been to the GF. What time should we get a dinner ressie and where is the best place to watch the fireworks and water parade? Thanks!!

You may want to consider having High Tea together at the Grand Floridian. My wife and daughter (10 yrs) are doing this together while I take the boys out on water mice.
